Wrestlemania 28 Results: Best Matches from Sunday's Action

Austin GreenApr 1, 2012

How great was that?

WrestleMania 28 lived up to all the hype, and that's saying a lot. Over 78,000 fans showed up to Sun Life Stadium in Miami, and they were all treated to one hell of a show.

There were several epic matches in the night, but only three qualify for my "prestigious" Match of the Night award. Here are the candidates.

Weekend's Most Likely Heel/Face Turns 🎭

The Rock vs John Cena

The evening's main event showcased two legends of the sport as they traded vicious blows and submission attempts.

Cena's brute strength and athleticism was on display throughout the match, while The Rock unleashed all his trademark moves that we've come to love. Both men were at their best, and the marathon match proved to be worth the "Once in a Lifetime" billing.

Eventually, The Rock prevailed after busting out the Rock Bottom slam.

CM Punk vs Chris Jericho

CM Punk retained his WWE Championship belt through sheer will power.

Jericho dominated the majority of the match, getting on top of Punk repeatedly with his patented "Walls of Jericho" move. However, Punk was able to worm his way out every time.

Despite controlling most of the bout, Jericho couldn't finish off the champ. And when Punk put Jericho in the Vice, it was all over. Jericho was forced to tap out and Punk added another line to his quickly-expanding resume.

The Undertaker vs Triple H

The Undertaker? Triple H? A no-holds barred cage match? Hell freaking yeah.

As soon as this match was announced, we all knew it was going to be sweet. But I'm not sure anyone could have predicted just how awesome it would be.

In the most brutal match of the night, both men effectively utilized their surroundings. Triple H spent much of the bout smashing Undertaker with a chair, and the two traded blows on the steel stairs.

In the end, The Undertaker warded off an attempted sledgehammer attack and finished off Triple H with a Tombstone.

It was one of the best matches I've ever seen, and it gets my vote for Match of the Night.
