McDonald's All-American Game 2012: Which Prospects Have the Brightest NBA Career

Timothy RappJun 3, 2018

Ah, the future. How fun was it to watch the NBA stars of tomorrow, today, as they did battle at this year's McDonald's All-American game.

Some of these kids won't ever be NBA stars, of course. But there were a few I saw that convinced me they have the stuff to be excellent players both at the college and pro levels.

Some boasted particular skills or attributes that will translate well in the future. Others have unique games or dynamic versatility.

And a few are just damn good any way you slice it. Let's find out who a few of them are.

Kyle Anderson, UCLA

You don't see many guys in high school all-star games put up the following line: 13 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and four steals.

Then again, you rarely see high school kids that are 6'8", can play both guard positions along with small forward, look to pass before they shoot and, oh yeah, play great defense as well.

Anderson is incredibly competitive, but is silky-smooth on the court. I think he is going to be an absolute stud at the NBA level.

Shabazz Muhammad, Undeclared

Forget about the 21 points or the "top recruit in the land" label and just watch him play—the dude is a pure, natural scorer, and those guys always have a place in the NBA.

He scored 21 points last night and did it in style, making outside jumpers and finishing at the rim with authority.

Remember the name—a year from now, he'll probably be popping up on your NBA mock draft.

Rasheed Sulaimon, Duke

Sulaimon has two things going for him that I think will lead to a long and successful NBA career: he's an excellent shooter from range and he's a very bright and well-rounded individual.

He'll probably be a combo guard at Duke, though at the NBA level, he may need to learn to be a point guard. He's smart enough to figure it out and deadly enough from beyond the arc to find a role with a team in some capacity.

DaJuan Coleman, Syracuse

Dude is an absolute beast on the boards. He only scored seven points last night, but he hauled in an impressive 12 rebounds.

There's always a place in the NBA for rebounding big men, especially if they can block shots and play physical defense. Coleman's game isn't complete, but he's on his way to being a force to reckon with in the paint.
