March Madness 2012: Teams Who'll Continue to Torch Field by Huge Margins

Joshua CarrollJun 6, 2018

March Madness is a time when fans are looking for buzzer-beaters and every game coming down to the last shot. However, in the first round we actually see a lot of blow-outs and uneven match-ups.

This year is no different than any others and I'm here to tell you what games to avoid watching if you are looking for an exciting end to the game. These three teams will simply run through the first one or two rounds and won't meet anyone with a real chance of matching up with them for a while — no matter what your bracket says.

Michigan State

1 of 3

Michigan State, the No. 1 seed in the West region, will look to make it to the Final Four. The Spartans have been playing some of the best and most consistent basketball all year and it has really all come together for Michigan State at the right time, including their tournament path.

On the other side of their bracket, the No. 2 seed Mizzou, is nothing Michigan State shouldn't be able to handle. I'd say the team the Spartans should be the most concerned about in their bracket is the No. 12 seed Long Beach State just because of the wave of momentum they are riding right now.

If the Spartans don't make it to the Final Four I will be a very confused fella. There is nobody in their bracket that should beat them even when they have their off days, but then again that's what makes it fun. You just never know with March Madness.

North Carolina

2 of 3

Being a one seed, of course North Carolina has a pretty easy first game as they match up against the 16th seed Vermont. The Tar Heels have looked like one one the most dominate teams in the nation all year and although they've had their lapses, it would take about 10 lapses in one game for North Carolina to drop this one.

As they move forward in the second and third round, their toughest competition would be Michigan (not to be confused with Michigan State). It is no wonder President Obama has selected the Tar Heels to make it to the Final Four and win it all, he has clearly done his homework. North Carolina has one of the more easy paths on the bracket and you will not likely see them involved in a nail-biter for few weeks.

Kansas

3 of 3

Kansas, being the two seed in the South region, will look to meet North Carolina in Round 4. I may sound like I'm looking ahead a little bit, but Kansas is playing some great basketball and will be matched up against some teams that well, aren't.

First round they will play Detroit and move on to play the winner of St. Mary and Purdue. After they take them out, the highest seed they could match up against before the Tar Heels would be SDSU who will be playing a hot NC State team in the first round.

The Jayhawks won't exactly be strolling through the park. Everybody will give them their best shot. But it should be a nice light jog for Kansas for about the first three rounds of the tournament.
