March Madness Tracker: Who's In, Who's Out Based on Conference Tourney Results
Championship Week is winding down to its inevitable end. Some teams will get to keep playing after it's all over. Others will go home. It all depends on the whims of the almighty bubble.
A lot of teams came into championship week needing to make a statement, and quite a few of those teams have already failed. Others haven't proven enough quite yet.
Here's a look at how the notable teams in the power six conferences are looking right now, with predictions for what lies in wait for them on Selection Sunday.

UConn's STACKED Schedule ☠️

Report: Biggest Spenders in Men's CBB 🤑
ACC
Miami (19-11, 9-7)
The Hurricanes needed a great run in the ACC tournament to ensure they got in. They didn't get it, losing to Florida State in the quarterfinals. Sitting squarely on the bubble, it appears that they will be looking at an invite to the NIT.
Prediction: Out
NC State (22-12, 9-7)
The Wolfpack gave North Carolina all it could handle in the ACC semifinals, but it wasn't quite enough. Controversial calls might have doomed NC State, but the overall performance was more than good enough to ensure it of a bid.
In fact, the Wolfpack might have moved up a spot because of how well they played in this game.
Prediction: In
Big East
West Virginia (19-13, 9-9)
The Mountaineers could have added a big exclamation mark to their resume with a win over UConn in the Big East tournament earlier this week, but they couldn't get it done.
West Virginia still has a leg to stand on, and that's top wins against teams like Kansas State and Georgetown. But alas, the number of losses West Virginia has suffered, especially recently, are too much to overlook.
The Mountaineers had better cross their fingers
Prediction: In
South Florida (20-13, 12-6)
The Bulls gave Notre Dame a run for its money on Thursday in the Big East tournament, but they weren't able to get the job done in overtime.
The biggest feather in South Florida's cap is its win over Louisville, but that's also really the only feather South Florida has in its cap. The Bulls could have assured themselves a spot with a run through the Big East tournament, but all bets are off now. They, too, had better cross their fingers.
Prediction: Out
Seton Hall (20-12, 8-10)
The Pirates faced the tall task of having to defeat Louisville in the Big East tournament. If they had managed to pull it off, they likely would have been on the inside looking out on Selection Sunday.
Seton Hall couldn't do that, and its tourney hopes are entirely up in the air now. What stands out about Seton Hall's season are all the bad losses, and the team's signature wins over Georgetown, UConn and West Virginia may not be enough to save it.
Prediction: Out
Big Ten
Northwestern (18-13, 8-10)
The Wildcats really shot themselves in the foot by losing to Minnesota in the Big Ten tourney. A win would have helped to a degree, but Northwestern's loss is potentially a killer blow.
The win over Michigan State is still worth a lot, but everything else is only worth so much. In the end, the number of losses Northwestern suffered down the stretch will be very hard to overlook.
Prediction: Out
Big 12
Texas (20-13, 9-9)
Once the Longhorns knocked off Iowa State in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament, they all but clinched a berth in the NCAA tournament. They better hope that is the case, because the Missouri Tigers made sure they didn't put an exclamation point on their resume.
Texas will likely end up being one of the last four in, but you take whatever you can get as long as you make it.
Prediction: In
Pac-12
California (24-9, 13-5)
With the Pac-12 looking more and more like a one-bid league, the Golden Bears blew their chance to get into the dance with an 11-point loss to Colorado in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
Their high win total is hollow, as they didn't beat anyone inside the RPI top-50. They are in better shape than Washington, which won the regular season conference title before losing to Oregon in its first game of the Pac-12 tournament.
Prediction: Out
Colorado (22-11, 11-7)
For the Buffaloes, it's pretty simple: Win and you're in. Anything short of a Pac-12 tournament championship puts this team in the NIT.
Prediction: Out
Oregon (22-9, 13-5)
This one's simple. The Ducks needed to beat Colorado to keep their Big Dance hopes alive, and they didn't. They now rank below the top of the totem pole in the Pac-12, and that's not a good place to be in the grand scheme of things.
Prediction: Out
Washington (21-10, 14-4)
You want to know how not to get into the NCAA tournament?
Try losing to Oregon State in the Pac-12 tournament. That loss took the Huskies from being in good shape to being in bad shape.
Oh by the way, Washington also lost to UCLA to finish its regular season. Yikes.
Prediction: Out
Arizona (22-10, 12-6)
Arizona's once-bleak tournament hopes look a lot better with an appearance in the Pac-12 finals against Colorado. That win alone wouldn't be very impressive, but since conference tournament champions get an automatic bid, it means everything. As long as the Wildcats win, they are in.
Prediction: In
SEC
Mississippi State (21-11, 11-11)
The Bulldogs put themselves in good standing with two straight wins to finish the regular season, but their loss to Georgia in the SEC tourney was a killer.
Outside of its win at Vanderbilt, Mississippi State doesn't have a leg to stand on. It's out.
Prediction: Out
Tennessee (18-14, 10-6)
The worst thing that could have happened to the Volunteers was a loss to Mississippi in the SEC quarterfinals. That ended up being the result, with the Rebels stealing a 77-72 victory, effectively ending any hope that Tennessee had to make it into the NCAA tournament.
Not even a 10-win season in the SEC during the regular season is going to be good enough to save the Volunteers from their mediocre non-conference play.
Prediction: Out
