Brandon Jennings, Derrick Rose and More Guards Who Will Destroy Jeremy Lin
It's been a rough go of things for the New York Knicks and overnight sensation Jeremy Lin since the Miami Heat game prior to the All-Star break.
In the past five games, the Knicks are only 1-4, falling to three games under the .500 mark at 18-21.
Lin's play has suffered as well as he's faced some pretty tough competition as of late including Rajon Rondo, Jason Kidd and Tony Parker in the last three games.
Overall in the Knicks' past four losses, Lin has averaged only 14.0 per game shooting only .327 from the floor (18 of 55).
In those four games, he's also averaged only 4.75 assists and committed an average of 4.25 turnovers per game.
It's not going to get any easier in the upcoming weeks as Lin will face some more tough competition.
Here's a look a some point guards on the Knicks' schedule who haven't faced Lin yet but will be looking to continue the trend and dominate Lin.
Brandon Jennings
1 of 6Jennings gets the first of three chances against Lin tonight when the Knicks travel to Milwaukee.
He can keep Lin off balance with his complete offensive game and can exploit Lin's difficulty to handle quality guards off the dribble.
There's a good chance tonight you won't see Lin on Jennings that much for that reason.
Jennings lit the Knicks up for 36 points in January when the Bucks visited Madison Square Garden.
He's got the talent to do so again.
Jrue Holiday
2 of 6Holiday is having a very nice season for the first-place Sixers.
With the Knicks having the talent to make a run at the Atlantic Division lead, Holiday will look to make sure that doesn't happen.
He gets his first of two chances against Lin on Sunday afternoon when the Sixers head to the Garden.
Holiday's got size, so that neutralizes the advantage Lin has most night's, and he's just as strong (another Lin advantage).
He's also very quick and can get to the rim with success.
He has the chance to put up solid numbers against the Knicks.
Derrick Rose
3 of 6The reigning MVP's ability to get to the lane has a chance to drive Lin nuts.
Not only that, but the defensive ability of not only Rose, but the Bulls' team in general could make Monday night a very long one in Chicago for Lin.
Now that the scouting report is out on Lin, expect Rose to be one guy that can really take advantage of it.
Darren Collison
4 of 6Collison has put together a very solid season and has led the Indiana Pacers to a 23-14 record.
He's averaged 11.0 PPG and 5.1 APG and will split time with George Hill who can be equally as effective.
Lin could have success in this matchup, but Collison moves well laterally on the defensive end and may have success keeping Lin out of the paint.
Offensively, he's able to penetrate and get to the rim with success which is the type of guard Lin has struggled with to date.
Chris Paul
5 of 6This anticipated matchup will have to wait until April 25, but by then, it should be a true measuring stick of where Lin stands among the NBA's best floor generals.
Paul, widely considered the game's best point guard will test Lin for sure when he has the ball in his hands. He's a great ball-handler and runs the pick-and-roll as good as any guard in the game.
He keeps his dribble alive, and when he looks to score, the Clippers are at their best.
On the defensive end of the floor, Paul is a ball hawk who will definitely look to expose Lin's turnover issues.
Hopefully for Lin's sake, by April, he would be able to cut some of that out of his game.
Either way, it's a matchup to watch.
Other Matchups
6 of 6Here's a look at some other point guards who Lin has already seen, but could give him fits down the stretch.
Jose Calderon: Put up a solid 25 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in a Valentine's Day loss before Lin hit the game-winning three-point shot.
Kyrie Irving: Had 22 points and seven assists against Lin in the Knicks' 120-103 win during their first game after the All-Star break.
John Wall: Scored 29 points and dished out seven assists in a Knicks win in early February and the early stages of Linsanity.
Mario Chalmers: He makes this list because he had the assignment on Lin when he forced the sensation into his worst game as the Knicks point guard, a 1-of-11 shooting night coupled with eight turnovers as the Knicks were embarrassed by Miami 102-88.
Rajon Rondo: How did Rondo do the last time he saw Lin? Not bad, putting up triple-double numbers that read 18 points, 20 assists and 17 rebounds in a Boston overtime win.
Deron Williams: Williams lit up Lin and the Knicks during their last encounter, scoring 38 points and knocking down eight shots from behind the arc in a New Jersey win.
