Ranking Steve Novak Among the NBA's Sharpest 3-Point Assassins
The basketball world has spoken and it is apparent that many people are not too happy about this year's three-point contest during All-Star Weekend.
Everyone in the contest is, of course, great basketball players and can certainly knock down shots behind the arc. They kind of have to since they are in the NBA. The fans just know there should be other players partaking in this event; however, there are a few players that no one is probably arguing about.
So in the spirit of everything, let's take a look at the top three-point assassins in the NBA.
Honorable Mentions
1 of 11Considering all of the talent in the NBA, it is rather difficult to include all of the top three-point shooters.
Therefore, here are four honorable mentions that didn't quite make the Top 10.
That is not taking anything away from them though. This is the NBA, so it is the best of the best. It is possible that some of these players could find themselves in similar lists as time progresses.
Luke Ridnour, Minnesota Timberwolves
James Jones, Miami Heat
Mario Chalmers, Miami Heat
Klay Thompson, Golden State Warriors
10. Ryan Anderson, Orlando Magic
2 of 11Three-pointers made: 95
Three-point percentage: 44.0
It's one thing that Anderson has made the most three-pointers in the NBA so far this year, it is another thing that he has managed to keep such a high percentage.
Anderson was always a dangerous threat from behind the arc, but his play this season has put him into the next level.
9. Brandon Rush, Golden State Warriors
3 of 11Three-pointers made: 44
Three-point percentage: 53.0
Yes, you are reading that correctly. Rush is shooting 53 percent in the three-point department, which is obviously leading the NBA.
Rush is in the NBA for one reason and that is shooting threes. He is certainly getting the job done this season.
8. Matt Bonner, San Antonio Spurs
4 of 11Three-pointers made: 60
Three-point percentage: 45.8 percent
Matt Bonner is the best three-point shooter in the league when it comes to size. Bonner is 6'10'', so not only does he have a nice shooting stroke, but he can shoot over just about anyone in the league with ease.
7. J.J. Redick, Orlando Magic
5 of 11Three-pointers made: 53
Three-point percentage: 43.8 percent
If this was college basketball we were talking about, Redick's name would be on the top of the list, but it's not. At the same time though, Redick is finally starting to get more playing time in the NBA, which is showcasing how good of a three-point shooter he is.
Out of all of the guys on this list, Redick may have the best form, which certainly goes a long way. With more and more playing time, it is possible the NBA will see Redick become one of the greatest three-ball shooters in the game.
6. Steve Novak
6 of 11Three-Pointers Made: 39
Three-Point Percentage: 43.3
There is no arguing that Steve Novak is a great three-point shooter.
Novak is easily one of the best set-shooters in the game today. If you leave him wide open, you can bet that he will put three points up on the scoreboard every time.
5. Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors
7 of 11Three-pointers made: 49
Three-point percentage: 45.4
Curry is one of the best pure shooters in the NBA today. With that said, you could say that he is an amazing three-point shooter as well.
Curry has only been in the league for a little over two years and people are already comparing him with the best shooters to ever lob up a basketball. The incredible thing is his percentage has gone up every season so far.
4. Anthony Morrow, New Jersey Nets
8 of 11Three-pointers made: 68
Three-point percentage: 41.2
One of the best spot-up three-point shooters in the league. That is what Anthony Morrow has to offer.
Don't be surprised when Morrow wins this year's three-point contest.
3. Kyle Korver, Chicago Bulls
9 of 11Three-pointers made: 58
Three-point percentage: 41.1
Korver's percentage is definitely down from previous years, but he is still one of the best shooters in the game from behind the arc.
There is one thing that Korver does really well and that is converting three-pointers. Man is his shot pretty.
2. Steve Nash, Phoenix Suns
10 of 11Three-pointers made: 33
Three-point percentage: 39.8
For Steve Nash, his three-point numbers look pretty ugly this year, but there is not one opposing team that would want Nash with the ball if Phoenix was down by three points in the final seconds.
Nash is clutch and he is one of the most feared shooters in the game to this day.
1. Ray Allen, Boston Celtics
11 of 11Three-pointers made: 61
Three-point percentage: 48 percent
For how many shots Ray Allen shoots from behind the arc, it is amazing that he can still make almost half of them.
Allen is not only considered one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA today, but one of the best all time. This guy is clutch and if Boston ever needs a three, you can bet that Allen will get in position and knock one down whether he's open or not.
