2012 NFL Draft Order: Post-Super Bowl Complete First-Round Order
Now that Eli Manning's New York Giants knocked off Tom Brady's New England Patriots in the Super Bowl for the second time in four years on Sunday, the complete 2012 NFL draft order has been determined.
Here's the 2012 NFL draft order, with mock pick predictions for the New England Patriots and New York Giants, who now hold the 31st and 32nd overall selections, respectively.
1. Indianapolis Colts
2. St. Louis Rams
3. Minnesota Vikings
4. Cleveland Browns
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
6. Washington Redskins
7. Jacksonville Jaguars
8. Miami Dolphins
9. Carolina Panthers
10. Buffalo Bills
11. Kansas City Chiefs
12. Seattle Seahawks
13. Arizona Cardinals
14. Dallas Cowboys
15. Philadelphia Eagles
16. New York Jets
17. Cincinnati Bengals (via OAK)
18. San Diego Chargers
19. Chicago Bears
20. Tennessee Titans
21. Cincinnati Bengals
22. Cleveland Browns (via ATL)
23. Detroit Lions
24. Pittsburgh Steelers
25. Denver Broncos
26. Houston Texans
27. New England Patriots (via NO)
28. Green Bay Packers
29. Baltimore Ravens
30. San Francisco 49ers
31. New England Patriots
The Patriots failed to address their pass-rushing needs last year in the NFL draft and were mainly able to notch 40 sacks in the regular season because of Bill Belichick's defensive schemes and the play of nose tackle Vince Wilfork and defensive end Andre Carter.
Carter, who had 10 sacks, will be a free agent this offseason, and the Patriots have needs at defensive end and outside linebacker.
In that sense, I have them potentially selecting defensive lineman Fletcher Cox with the 27th overall pick (acquired from the New Orleans Saints) and Wisconsin center Peter Konz at No. 31 overall. That would give them a pass-rusher and a protector of Tom Brady in the middle (center Dan Koppen is 32 years old and fractured his ankle this season).
32. New York Giants
There's the possibility that Boston College inside linebacker Luke Kuechly could be available at No. 32 overall. If that's the case, he'd be a pick the Giants would have to make. Inside linebacker is their primary area of need and, despite concerns over Kuechly's size and strength at the next level, he has great instincts, range and tackling ability.
I see the Giants taking a chance on Kuechly and grooming him to be their next starter at inside linebacker.
