2012 NFL Draft: Andrew Luck and Other No-Brainers
The Peyton Manning drama is sure to keep a full head of steam for the next month leading into free agency, but one thing is for sure:
Andrew Luck is going to be an Indianapolis Colt.
Whether Peyton Manning stays in Indianapolis, or whether he bolts for the Washington Redskins, New York Jets or any other team, the Colts still have the No. 1 overall pick.
And they're going to use it on the best prospect in the last five years. If Manning stays, Luck could end up being a backup for a year, and, while that seems unnecessary, the Stanford grad doesn't have a problem with it.
According to interview with the Indianapolis Star (the website, not Peyton), Luck said he would "embrace" the chance to play with Manning.
""One, Peyton is the best, arguably the best," Luck said. "As a kid growing up, he was my football hero. If the opportunity was such that I had a chance to play with him and learn with Peyton, I totally embrace that...I'm not going to make an ultimatum or anything."
"
Regardless of Manning being in town or not, Luck isn't going to pull an Eli Manning and demand a trade. No matter what happens in the next two months, there's no question Andrew Luck will be the No. 1 pick and go to the Indianapolis Colts in April.
What other picks are no-brainers?
Robert Griffin III
The Washington Redskins need a quarterback. Badly. Whether they trade up for Griffin or wait until No. 6 doesn't really matter—because they are getting their man, someway, somehow.
The only other pick Griffin could possibly fall to is No. 5 to Cleveland, but the Browns are set with Colt McCoy for at least another year. They won't take RGIII.
Sorry Rex, sorry John, but your time is up.
Morris Claiborne
The Tampa Bay Bucs have a lot of holes on offense, but based on the best players that will likely be available at pick No. 5, there's no other way to go.
They have playmakers on offense, and the offensive line is solid, but the secondary needs help. Ronde Barber is oh, so close to retirement, and Aqib Talib can't be trusted. Claiborne, easily the best corner in the draft, is a no-brainer.
I dare you to find a Mock Draft with the Bucs not taking him. I dare you!
