NBA Rumors: Odds on Which Team Will Recruit Kenyon Martin
Kenyon Martin is officially an unrestricted free agent now and is expected to make his decision and sign with an NBA team very soon.
The Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks have expressed interest in signing the veteran forward.
Martin is looking for a team that is a winner and can give him minutes.
Here are the latest odds for the teams in the running to sign Martin.
San Antonio Spurs
1 of 6Minutes may be tougher to come by in San Antonio, and it's still up in the air if the Spurs are legitimate contenders.
One thing the Spurs can't do that teams like the Knicks and Clippers can is offer Martin their mini mid-level exemption.
That would put the Spurs in the luxury tax, and they won't do that.
Odds: 100 to 1
Los Angeles Lakers
2 of 6Playing in Los Angeles could intrigue Martin, but with Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum already there, Martin wouldn't have a major role.
Plus the Lakers have more pressing needs than adding Martin.
Odds: 75 to 1
New York Knicks
3 of 6The Knicks are a long shot for Martin.
He's looking for a chance at a championship, and the Knicks don't really fit that bill right now.
Odds: 50 to 1
Miami Heat
4 of 6The Heat have a good shot at landing Martin.
They are obviously winners and could give Martin a bigger role.
He would definitely be intrigued, but other teams could offer him a better financial deal.
Odds: 10 to 1
Atlanta Hawks
5 of 6The Hawks are in a position to offer Martin a bigger role.
The Hawks have used a combination of Zaza Pachulia, Jason Collins and Ivan Johnson at center since the loss of Al Horford. They are 9-2 in the 11 games without Horford, but teams with dominant big men can present problems. Martin could help in that regard.
The only problem is that they will likely be able to offer him the veteran's minimum.
Odds: 5 to 1
Los Angeles Clippers
6 of 6The Clippers are in the best spot for Martin.
For one, they are winning and can offer him quality minutes off the bench.
Secondly, they can offer him their $2.5 million mini mid-level exemption, which no other team will be able to trump.
Odds: 2 to 1
