5 NBA Rookies Who Will Have a Much Better 2nd Half
As the NBA season approaches the All-Star break, it's time to reflect on the play of the rookies. Some rookies, like Kyrie Irving, have definitely played well. For others, it's been a struggle adjusting to the pro game. Here is a look at five rookies who seem poised to shake off the inconsistencies and have productive second halves of the season.
Jan Vesely
1 of 5The sixth pick in the draft, Vesely will see increased playing time because of the injury to Andray Blatche. Vesely will be relied on to bring energy while figuring out his game offensively.
Vesely is a great athlete and his length should make him a good defender. Vesely should become a full-time starter over Rashard Lewis by the end of the season.
Jimmer Fredette
2 of 5The 10th pick in the draft, Fredette has proven most of his doubters to be right. His defense has been average to below average and he has shown little to no playmaking skills. The most troubling sign is his 36 percent field-goal percentage.
Fredette will find his shooting stroke in the second half.
Bismack Biyombo
3 of 5Biyombo has no offensive game right now, but Charlotte is so bad that Biyombo will have to get heavy minutes in the second half of the season.
Biyombo will be a good rebounder and defender. His offense will come in time, but it will only come with increased court time, which he will get in the second half.
Derrick Williams
4 of 5The second pick in the draft, Williams had some nice games early, but has sort of hit the rookie wall.
He may be in the doghouse somewhat, but with the current play of Wesley Johnson at the moment, Williams may be able to earn his minutes back very quickly.
Enes Kanter
5 of 5Yes, there is a logjam in the frontcourt in Salt Lake City, but Kanter is going to force his way in. Kanter is starting to show signs of becoming a bulldog in the paint. He will become a double-double machine very soon.
Kanter will be one of the most productive rookie big men in the second half of the season.
