WWE News: WWE Makes Yet Another PPV Schedule Change, Drops Bragging Rights

Drake OzJun 4, 2018

The WWE has made a number of huge changes to its pay-per-view schedule for 2012.

We’ve already seen the number of PPVs drop from 13 to 12, Capitol Punishment go bye-bye and the return of the Bragging Rights pay-per-view that no one ever really liked to begin with.

Apparently, WWE officials have realized that, however, and it now looks like Bragging Rights is going the way of Capitol Punishment.

WWE has released an updates list of PPV titles and locations for the next six months. The June show, which was the return of Bragging Rights, is now listed as "Untitled":

2/19: Elimination Chamber in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the Scotttrade Center

4/1: Wrestlemania 28 in Miami, Florida at SunLife Stadium.

4/29: Extreme Rules in Chicago, IL at the Allstate Center.

5/20: Over the Limit in Raleigh, NC at the RBC Center

6/17: Untitled PPV in East Rutherford, NJ at the Izod Center

7/15: Money in the Bank in Las Vegas, NV at the Thomas & Mack Center

8/19: Summerslam in Los Angeles, CA at the Staples Center

"

Phew. Finally, here’s a decision I can get on board with.

I think I’ve made my hatred of the Bragging Rights concept pretty clear because we could absolutely care less about a pay-per-view where the winners of the biggest match on the card get, um, well bragging rights, I guess. Oh yeah, and a pointless trophy, too.

Seriously, that PPV concept was a failure from the get-go, and I’m glad to see it go (as long as that is indeed the case).

The WWE does have to find a suitable replacement for the June PPV slot, though, because with rumors swirling that Money in the Bank is heading back to WrestleMania (and the likelihood that the MITB pay-per-view will be scrapped), there’s going to be a pretty big gap of excitement between WrestleMania and SummerSlam.

If I’m working for the WWE, I seriously consider bringing back King of the Ring as the June pay-per-view, with the winner of the tournament earning a World title shot at SummerSlam, which is basically the same thing the WWE does with the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania.

This would make the summer months a little less boring, a lot more worth watching and help increase the hype for SummerSlam.

Of course, this is almost too logical for the WWE to actually consider, and we’ll probably just end up seeing the return of some stupid PPV like Cyber Sunday instead.
