WWE Royal Rumble 2012: My Predictions vs. Fantasy Booking

Justin WatryJun 7, 2018

Tonight is the night! It is nights like these that make me proud to be a member of the WWE Universe. Not only that, but it feels great to know that I will be supporting the company by paying for the Royal Rumble event.

With my predictions this month, I am going to do things a little bit differently. As most know, I do not like "fantasy booking." Well, now I am going to show you exactly why. First will be the "standard" pick. Then will be "realistic" pick. Let's do this!

John Cena vs. Kane: Fantasy Booking

1 of 10

Kane is slowing turning John Cena. It has not happened the other 56,758 times I "boldly" predicted it, but it will come true this time folks!

Kane will dominate him throughout the entire match, before Cena finally snaps and gets himself disqualified. Or Kane will pick up the win handily, while Cena realizes he must "embrace the hate."

Winner: Kane

John Cena vs. Kane: My Prediction

2 of 10

Honestly, I do not see any of that happening. I have never predicted Cena to turn heel in the past six years, and I am not going to start now.

Cena has to win this match clean. Yes, clean! That is the way this story has been laid out. He can do so in calm fashion, or he can so so in an angry fashion.

The ending must be Kane lying a fallen, broken man. With Cena standing tall! That is the only acceptable finish tonight.

Winner: John Cena

World Title Match: Fantasy Booking

3 of 10

Daniel Bryan is defending his World Title against Big Show and Mark Henry in a triple threat steel cage match.

Big Show will choke slam Bryan through the ring, allowing his feet to touch the floor first. Think of the finish to No Way Out 2005. Bryan sneaks out and continues his title reign.

Mark Henry then destroys Big Show afterwards.

Winner: Daniel Bryan

World Title Match: My Prediction

4 of 10

Honestly, there is not much to discuss here.

Daniel Bryan needs to weasel out of this match still champion.

Big Show shouldn't be the World Champion heading into Wrestle Mania. Unless Shaq wants a World Title run?

Mark Henry shouldn't even be competing. I have said that week after week. I respect him for working through the injury, but please take some rest! Please heal up big man! Safety comes first.

Winner: Daniel Bryan

WWE Title Match: Fantasy Booking

CM Punk is defending his WWE Championship against Dolph Ziggler. Johnny Ace is the special guest referee.

This is where Ace screws Punk! Dolph will become the new WWE champion. It won't last long, but it will be the final act as Raw General Manager by Big Johnny!

OR

Think back to Elimination Chamber 2010. Vince McMahon's "hired gun" Batista was just given a title match against John Cena. Moments later, Batista was the new champion as a sort of "corporate" title holder.

Could Jericho do the same here for Johnny Ace? Sure.

Let's have Chris Jericho come out, be handed a title match immediately versus Dolph (or Punk) and walk out of the Royal Rumble as WWE Champion!

It has happened before, and it would put Punk in the "underdog" role again and force him to chase the champion heading into the Road to Wrestle Mania!

Winner: Chris Jericho (or Dolph Ziggler)

WWE Title Match: My Prediction

6 of 10

CM Punk has to retain here.

He just won the title two months ago. We saw enough title changes in 2011! There is no need to do the same in the new year. Punk needs to be the champion, for at least a few more months.

Johnny Ace will try his best, but I can't see how he succeeds in screwing Punk out of the the belt. His job status will be shaky enough come Monday night.

Again, I do not know how, but Punk really needs to win this in a great match.

Winner: CM Punk

Rumble Surprises: Fantasy Booking

7 of 10

Brock Lesnar will return! Logic can be thrown out the window. He will appear!

Rob Van Dam is still with TNA, but who cares? He will return. Forget his contract status or upcoming advertisements! Yeah, bring him in!

Ultimate Warrior will make an appearance! He sure sounds like he is in the right state of mind these days.

Undertaker and Triple H have zero reason to be in the Rumble, so let's discuss them coming in as well! Sure. They will both be there.

Let's throw in Shawn Michaels too! It makes no sense, but I would like to see it. Thus, it will happen!

Batista? What would he do for the company moving forward? I don't know, but I think he will be there as well! Yes, another surprise entrant...

Daniel Bryan will try and unify the title because he is the greatest wrestler ever! Him and Punk could clash in an excellent Ironman match.

Am I leaving anybody else out? Kharma? Ric Flair? The Rock? Vince McMahon? Why not? They will also all appear!

Rumble Surprises: My Predictions

8 of 10

I think Hacksaw Jim Duggan is a lock. He makes too much sense, and I was already thinking of this last week. Not just a few days ago like others.

I also thought of Road Dogg right when he appeared on Raw last month. His appearance at the Slammy Awards was fine, so why not perform another night?

Christian and Alberto Del Rio are smart choices as well. They are due back, so let's just make the most of it at the Rumble.

I have joked about The Rock appearing before, but if WWE really wanted to make a huge "splash" tonight, he would be the only selection I seeing shaking things up.

Other than that, I can't think of any others. Kevin Nash could return, but I can't see him doing much. The same for Goldust, Dusty Rhodes, or even Booker T.

The field is wide open this year...

Rumble Winner: Fantasy Booking

Well, Since Chris Jericho won the WWE title (or Dolph) earlier in the night, guess what?

CM Punk will win the Royal Rumble!

Yes, he will enter late and claim the prize. The Royal Rumble advertisement have been teasing that "every WWE Superstar is eligible." It would create a chaotic atmosphere for WWE.

Jericho would be champion heading into Mania. Punk would be chasing him, not the other way around. Plus, Punk gets a chance to beat down Johnny Ace before then.

Forget Randy Orton, Sheamus, Wade Barrett, Cody Rhode, or even Mick Foley! Punk will win because he is the best wrestler in the world.

I am a genius!

Rumble Winner: My Prediction

10 of 10

I am a big fan of Sheamus and see his win tonight being the launch pad for his rise to the top!

I think Wade Barrett may be a darkhorse to win, but no champion would match up well with him.

I think Randy Orton will win. The show is in his hometown, and him vs. Daniel Bryan would be a great match for Mania. It would certainly fit well.

Cody Rhodes will will and be the Intercontinental Champion and World Champion on April 1st, 2012!

Honestly, I could see all of the happening. Throw in the ever popular "surprise winner," and it is all certainly possible. Add in a dance number by Brodus Clay, and I can't wait!

This year is one of the few years where anybody could win the Rumble. Yes, anybody! I really could pick any number of men, including Mick Foley. It is going to be that unpredictable of a night!

In the end, I have to pick Chris Jericho. His tease on Monday night may have raised expectations for the Rumble, but it doesn't matter. He almost HAS to win tonight.

The end of the world as we know it? Yes, that is tonight!

Winner: Chris Jericho
