2012 NFL Draft: 5 Coolest Names in the Draft
Right up until the draft in late April, these prospects will be analyzed from head to toe—from their arm straight to their vertical leap to how quickly they can do basic algebra.
Lost in the process is one of the most important aspects of the evaluation: how cool their name sounds when they are announced to come out of the tunnel.
Let's be honest: Andrew Luck's name is more recognizable because his last name rhymes with "suck," which only hypes him up even more as a prospect. For some reason, "suck for John Smith" just does not carry as much fanfare.
Here are the prospects in this year's draft with the coolest names.
Vontaze Burfict
1 of 5For a linebacker that is as intense, mean and physical as he is, can you possibly think of a better first name than Vontaze?
Unfortunately for Vontaze, if he ends up being a bust, he has a name we will all remember, unlike, say, a Mike Williams.
Nick Toon
2 of 5Toon can thank his father for having one of the most recognizable names in the draft. The only problem with having a great Jets receiver for a dad is having to live in his shadow, especially since he plays the same position.
Like his father, Toon will likely go in the first round. It remains to be seen whether or not he can have the kind of career his father had.
Andrew Luck
3 of 5The last name of "Luck" is just so ironic in so many ways. The Colts "Lucked" into getting the chance to draft him. Peyton Manning is "unLucky" to miss the one season when the top quarterback prospect in years came out of school.
Of course, there the "Suck for Luck" slogan that fans of inferior teams chanted in hopes that their team would get a chance to draft him.
Robert Griffin III
4 of 5The name "Robert Griffin" does not stand out; it's how Griffin includes the "third" part of his name that helps him stand out.
Carrying the extra notation gives his name almost feeling of royalty, as if you should hail to the best playmaker in college football. It also gave birth to the cool nickname, RG3.
Brian Quick
5 of 5The name "Quick" is actually a bit ironic, as quickness and speed are the main knocks on Quick as a prospect. He's great as a jump-ball guy and has great size, but he lacks elite speed to outrun defenders at the next level.
Still, any skill position player should love having the word "Quick" in their name.
