WWE Smackdown Results: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
I enjoyed WWE Smackdown tonight. It set the stage nicely for this Sunday's Royal Rumble event, as well as put on a fun show. If I had to grade the show, I would give the Blue Brand a C+.
The Good
The opening segment was fine. It barely made the "good" section, though. I have enjoyed this feud, but I have had enough of Big Show crying. If he is going to be in a major role at WrestleMania, he needs to turn up the intensity!

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Bryan was good on the microphone. Last week he was great. The week before he was laughable. He needs to be great every week. Not just once in awhile! He is the World Champion, right?
I do not even need to discuss Mark Henry's promo. He is always entertaining. Same with Teddy Long!
Cody Rhodes defeated Justin Gabriel in a short match. It put over Rhodes, yet made Gabriel look like a legitimate wrestler.
Sheamus vs. Drew McIntyre was pretty good. Not amazing. Not bad. Just a fun match! I can't comment on the "firing" storyline with Drew until it finally reaches its conclusion, if there even is one...
Epico and Primo defeated Santino Marella and Yoshi Tatsu. I was entertained by this. All four men are talented inside the ring, and the right team won.
I loved the Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett "match." The heel got to cut a promo, while the fans eagerly anticipated the return of the beloved face. When he did appear, it was an all out brawl! Great job, WWE!
It is always nice to see RKO after RKO to a bunch of lower-level talent. It was a nice return for Orton, but I am not sure if his feud with Barrett will continue after this. We shall see!
It is no secret that I am a big fan of Alex Riley. However, he is not a priority right now. Brodus Clay is. Therefore, I had no issues with this segment.
Riley got to show off a few of his dance moves. As a great dancer, like myself, I can appreciate that. Brodus got to pick up another win, while Cameron and Naomi looked great as well! All around, it was a nice segment!
I did not mind WWE showing Kane vs. Zack Ryder from Raw. Some may not have liked it, but you have to remember some people only watch Smackdown. Not everybody watches every single WWE program every single week! I don't want to see that every week, but I have no problem with it here.
I have a feeling the shortened main event forced WWE into adding this "filler." I could be incorrect, but that is my guess.
Now to my "it" girls!
Firstly, Rosa Mendes looked amazing! Notice how she got a promo before the tag match? Not Primo. Not Epico. Rosa got time to cut a promo, and she did a wonderful job. She is the real star of the tag team division in WWE!
My other "it" girl did a fine job as well. Aksana defeated Natalya clean in less than 10 seconds. Yes, clean! No cheating. No cheap shots. Nothing! Aksana just picked up a huge win, and I love it! Keep up the great work, girls...
I enjoyed the main event, but I will be discussing more of that below. It will tie into one of my rare public service announcements for WWE. I do not do them often, but I feel the need to tonight.
The Bad
The Royal Rumble is this Sunday, right? I really did not understand the lack of build for the event from the Blue Brand. It was certainly disappointing.
Where was Sheamus talking about how important Sunday is? Where was Orton announcing his Rumble entry and rise back to the top? Where was Teddy Long talking about how huge the Rumble is for the company?
The other "bad" part of the show was Hunico defeating Ted DiBiase. Why are they facing off against each other again? How many times have we seen this? My main issue will be addressed in the "ugly" section.
Hunico won and attacked Ted's injured hand. That is all well and good, but will this "feud" really continue? Please make me care next week because I certainly do not right now!
The Ugly
I hate to say "I told you so!" I really did not want to, but WWE has forced me to! I apologize in advance.
Safety comes first!
I have said it over and over. As usual, nobody seems to want to listen. That is fine, but guess what?
According to this report, Mark Henry re-injured himself at the Smackdown tapings. His status is unknown moving forward.
Why was Henry still wrestling? Why? He has been injured since last month, and it has been clear to anybody watching WWE that he was not 100 percent.
I pleaded for him to be taken off WWE TV over one month ago!
No! He wanted to work through the injury.
Well, look what happened!
How many times do I have to stress this point? Please, no more double duty. Please, no more working through injuries! The next time somebody wants to work through an injury, I hope WWE puts their foot down and stops it!
Safety comes first.
Reminder: There may not be a "Good, bad and ugly" article next Friday night. No promises! Until then, I am now on Twitter @JustinWatry! Thanks.
