Royal Rumble 2012 Predictions: Dolph Ziggler Will Steal the Show
While Dolph Ziggler has not been made out to look as strong in his feud with CM Punk as one would imagine a Royal Rumble winner would look, he is a serious contender to walk away as exactly that in 2012.
The WWE has hand-groomed this star all the way from his days in the Spirit Squad as Nicky to his extended run with the US Title, so having him win is not out of the question.
One of the biggest arguments against Ziggler winning is that he would have to—at the very least—co-main event WrestleMania. With the WWE and Vince McMahon trying to pull out all the stops for this event, there is talk that Ziggler isn’t a big enough name for that honor.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Not so fast.
With the obvious main event being John Cena vs. The Rock and another huge match between the Undertaker and whoever he ends up feuding with, Ziggler vs. Punk could still be an amazing match that doesn’t have to be the main focus of the event. With far less pressure, Punk and Ziggler would have the chance to steal the show with a five-star match that everyone knows they can put on.
Ziggler’s cocky heel gimmick is a wrestling classic and the exact kind of attitude that Shawn Michaels won his first Royal Rumble with. While Michaels' first Rumble win in 1995 was a surprise to many, he proved that he could be a serious star.
Ziggler can do the same in 2012.
Another fact that many are overlooking is that Ziggler has followed a very similar road as HBK, but there would be no better way to show the crowd that he is the next great heel than by letting him walk out of the Royal Rumble as the No. 1 contender.
While there are many other serious contenders, Ziggler has to be considered one of the favorites.
