Big Update on the Launch of the WWE Network This Fall

The WWE Network is one of Vince McMahon’s biggest projects to date, one that many are saying could “make or break” the company. 

The all-WWE channel was originally scheduled to launch on the same day as WrestleMania 28, but it’s hit a number of snags along the way and its launch has now been pushed back to sometime during the fall. 

Although we still haven’t gotten any official word from the WWE, it looks like we have a tentative date for the initial airdate of the WWE Network.

At last word, WWE is planning to launch the Network around November of this year. Of course that could change and most likely will. The next set of commercials for the Network is scheduled to air around WrestleMania 28.

I actually predicted in a previous column that the WWE Network would launch around Survivor Series, and it looks like that’s the plan at the moment. 

Good idea, WWE. Good idea. 

The network still doesn’t have enough clearances in place to draw in enough viewers to be successful, and there’s also been a pretty evident lack of planning into its launch. 

WWE officials just haven’t seemed to have a concrete plan concerning what type of programming we’ll see, where the network will be shown, etc. And it doesn’t appear as if that will change very much by April 1. 

The last thing the company wants to do is launch the WWE Network before it’s ready, and that’s exactly what it was going to do if it started airing on the same day as WrestleMania 28. 

Pushing the launch date back to November is the best decision the WWE has made concerning the WWE Network yet, and it should pay off in the long run. 

That being said, company officials really have to get the ball going and start getting a move on things because it’s going to look really bad for the WWE if the network doesn’t launch by 2013.
