WWE News: Major Shocker Reportedly Planned for Royal Rumble Match

Most WWE fans seem to have their predictions on what will happen at this Sunday’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view chiseled in stone right now. 

A good portion of us have predicted that CM Punk will retain the WWE Championship, and that either Randy Orton or Chris Jericho will win the 30-Man Royal Rumble match. 

We might want to throw our predictions out the window, though, because it looks like the WWE has a huge swerve or two planned for the Rumble this year. 

From the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WrestleNewz.com):

There is said to be a major twist planned for the 30-man Royal Rumble match this year, based on the announced idea that every Superstar is eligible to be in the Rumble. This angle was also done to set up at least one planned storyline. 

"

I honestly have no idea where the WWE is going with this, but it’s interesting to note that "every Superstar" means even the World champions can participate in the Royal Rumble match. 

Therefore, this leaves open the door for a number of interesting possibilities, such as the WWE Champion winning the match and then going on to challenge the World Heavyweight Champion in a title unification match at WrestleMania 28. 

Crazy, huh? 

But that’s just one of a ton of possible scenarios that could go down on Sunday, and we could see both CM Punk and Daniel Bryan—or whichever two stars are holding the world titles after their respective matches—play a huge part in the finish of the Rumble, helping to set up their WrestleMania feuds in the process. 

While we can’t really predict what the "major twist" will be, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that it involves Punk, John Laurinaitis, Dolph Ziggler and perhaps one other Superstar. 

If I’m totally wrong, though, I won’t be disappointed because, as a wrestling fan, there’s nothing better than being surprised. 

As long as we don’t get a completely predictable finish, I’ll be a happy camper.
