Novak Djokovic: World's No. 1 Will Cruise Past Andy Murray in Semifinal Match

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

Novak Djokovic will meet Andy Murray in the semifinals of the 2012 Australian Open, giving fans a rematch of last year's final at Melbourne Park.

It wasn't a contest last year, and it won't be much of one this year. Djokovic won in straight sets, 6–4, 6–2, 6–3, and while Murray should put up a better fight this time around, Djokovic will still triumph.

In the last two years, Murray has reached the Australian Open finals, losing both times. He's never won a Grand Slam, and his streak of finals' appearances will come to end this Friday.

Djokovic and Murray will battle at Melbourne Park on Friday, and the Serbian is going to get the best of the Scot because Djokovic will be too much to handle for Murray.

These two know each other well, having gone head-to-head 10 times in their career. Djokovic leads the series 6-4, and will extend upon that in the semifinals.

Despite some recent health concerns, Djokovic will still be ready to roar against Murray. He knows how important this match is, so he will take extra care in his preparation.

Djokovic told the BBC that he will use last year as a guide to help him beat Murray, but he knows it won't be easy.

"

I'm going to try and repeat the same game as last year, Djokovic said. But I'm going to need more than that - Andy is playing great. He has showed he is in great shape...you can feel he is physically fit and eager to win his first Grand Slam.

"

Murray will of course be ready too, but it's Djokovic that will be shining brightly on Friday.

As the defending champ and the No. 1 player in the world, Djokovic will not falter in the semifinal match. He is a better player than Murray, and it will be shown once again this Friday.

Getting out in front early will be key for Djokovic, and he'll make it happen. Murray will struggle to come from behind, resulting in a great victory for Djokovic.

Djokovic is on a mission to be even better than he was in 2011, and it all starts with the 2012 Australian Open. Murray will not stand in the way of Djokovic's continued dominance.
