Roger Federer: Why He Is the Most Dangerous Man in Australian Open 2012
Top seed Novak Djokovic and No. 2-ranked Rafael Nadal have been making a mockery of their opponents at the 2012 Australian Open.
Yet those following the tournament cannot forget about the type of threat that Roger Federer has been and will be in this tournament in the final rounds.
Little to no attention has been paid to one of this game's greatest, most accomplished players. His run at the Aussie Open has been something to watch.
In his fourth-round victory over one of the two Aussies left, Bernard Tomic, Federer won in straight sets, failing to give up a set the entire Australian Open.
Federer has had much success winning his first-serve points, which puts pressure on opponents to be on top of their return games. In his last match against Tomic, he was able to win an impressive 84 percent of his first serves en route to a straight-set victory.
His service game has been as good as it has been in several seasons, with a strong 13-ace performance in the last win against Tomic.
Federer also boasts an immense amount of experience, with an impressive four Australian Open titles to his name. His most recent triumph at Melbourne was just two seasons ago in 2010. In 2006 and 2007, Federer won this tournament in back-to-back fashion.
There is no debate when it comes to the discussion of whether Federer can take the 2012 tourney.
The skill is there, as well as the experience. He has also managed to put on an impressive tournament with his service game, and despite it all has gone heavily under the radar.
Despite the hype surrounding Nadal and Djokovic, there is no question that with his experience and poise, Federer is the player to fear in 2012.
