Roger Federer: What Fed-Ex Must Do to Sweep Grand Slam Tournaments
Roger Federer has all the tools of winning every Grand Slam event this year. He is arguably the best tennis player to ever play in the history of the sport. If anybody can win all four Grand Slams in one year, Federer would be my choice.
It seems unlikely, but here is what Federer has to do to win all four Grand Slams:
Return to Glory
Federer hasn’t been in his typical form in recent years. His game is still solid, but when he goes up against Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic, he tends to struggle. If he can return to his dominant form, then that would be a great start en route to four Grand Slams.
Keep Returning to Quarterfinals
Federer is known for his consistent tournament play. You can almost pencil him in to every quarterfinal of a tournament. He made his 31st consecutive quarterfinal in this year’s Australian Open.
If Federer continues to play well enough to make quarterfinals, then he at least gives himself an opportunity to win the tournament.
Hope Nadal, Djokovic get upset
It’s not because Federer can’t defeat Nadal or Djokovic, it’s the fact that having these two stars in their prime would be difficult to defeat. Djokovic was virtually flawless last season and Nadal always gives Federer trouble.
Not having Nadal or Djokovic in his way would increase his chances of taking home the crown. It’s simple logic.
Play Consistent Tennis
Federer is one of the most consistent players in tennis history. His career winning percentage is more than 80 percent.
He shouldn’t have any problems staying consistent.
Winning all four tournaments are going to be a stretch, but with a little luck Federer has an opportunity to achieve that feat.
Some people would give the edge to Nadal or Djokovic, but I’ll take Federer given his consistent play on every surface.
