Royal Rumble 2012 Predictions: WWE Needs John Cena Loss in Worst Way

Gabe ZaldivarJun 5, 2018

John Cena is suffering from something far worse than the boos he has heard at too many arenas to count. The fans are losing interest and that can be remedied with a sudden and destructive loss to Kane at Royal Rumble.

Let's forget all about what we think we know about victories and celebrations. Cena has been lifted to lofty heights before, but the road he has been traveling for the last year leads to just one thing ahead of his battle with The Rock at WrestleMania, and that's a loss.

Kane has emerged as the shadow that seems likely to envelope CeNation in darkness. Some would have Cena emerge as the greatest face in WWE and others would love him to just submit and turn heel.

One thing is certain, the train wreck has become far too dull for words. At Survivor Series, Cena was a bit player to The Rock. Getting a Rock Bottom only served to put Cena further down the pole of who fans care about.

At TLC, Cena was nowhere to be found, not that many cared. So, ahead of WrestleMania and what is supposed to be the greatest match of all time, one of the featured wrestlers is losing image, reputation and the fan's desire to see him perform.

The question is whether a thorough butt-kicking of Kane would benefit the end game or hurt it.

With a win, Cena continues getting boos from those that think his personae is tired and gets applauded by those that are already sold on him. But the interesting turn comes if he does indeed "embrace the hate."

A loss could serve to engage Cena's future in a number of ways. He may be beaten into submission by Kane. Or, we may see a fallen legend embrace the depths of despair and make a comeback against the People's Champion a couple months from now.

Cena has been circling the drain for months and it's time to flush him down and see what comes out the other side. We have seen Cena as a hated and vilified winner that still continues to pander to the masses as if he doesn't know where the vitriol comes from.

It's time for humility to land at his footsteps and to see what he does with it before what has to be the biggest bout in a decade. That's just my hope anyway.
