Royal Rumble 2012: Why Chris Jericho Deserves No. 1 Ranking

Eric BallJan 19, 2012

If you had to sum up the 2011 year in WWE, CM Punk would probably be the first person you think of.

Well it’s a new year jabronies.

It’s the 25th Anniversary of the legendary Royal Rumble and the hottest debate at the moment is who will draw the coveted No. 1 entry.

This event has featured the most legendary moments in the history of the sport and the No. 1 entry is guaranteed to be a part of something special.

That’s why it will be Chris Jericho.

Ever since the infamous 1/2/12 announcement that watched Jericho make his triumphed return after a 15-month hiatus, the stage is set for an epic comeback. He’s been quiet for a while but I think everything is pointing toward the Royal Rumble.

Does anybody remember the infamous 2003 Royal Rumble where he lasted for a whopping 38 minutes as the No. 2 entry? It was an incredible performance that is certainly still etched into my memory bank.

After 15 months of obscurity, what better way to explode back onto the scene than securing the No. 1 entry and re-establishing himself as one of the greatest wrestlers of the past decade.

Jericho doesn’t have the ego of most wrestlers. He completed various side projects that kept him out of the spotlight. Not all vets can do that. While I do hope this is his last go-around on the circuit considering he’s 41, judging by how he looked earlier this month…he’s ready to rock.

WWE needs to reward Y2J. Punk had his special year, time to move on to the next one.

In what would be a moment to never forget, how would you like a battle between “The Man Without a Voice” vs. “The Voice of the Voiceless” to win the Royal Rumble?

I’m chomping at the bit.
