13 Most Jaw-Dropping 'Cribs' of Baseball Superstars

Joel ReuterMay 31, 2018

Superstar baseball players are among the highest earning athletes in the world, as even average players sign multi-million dollar contracts.

Whether it is during their playing careers or after they have moved on to retirement, that money often goes towards building the player's dream home and with literally hundreds of millions of dollars at their disposal, those homes are impressive to say the least.

So here is a look at the homes of some of the highest earning players in baseball history, impressive dwellings to say the least.

*Career Earnings Taken From Baseball Reference

Ryan Howard: $65,255,000 Earned (Due $138 Million)

1 of 13

Howard, after signing a $125 million contract extension, set to work building this $23 million house in Bellaire Shore, Fla., which is roughly 10 miles from Clearwater, where the Phillies spring training field is located.

The "Casa Del Howard" took special city ordinances to be passed to allow it to built, but it should make for one impressive pad once it is completed.

Roy Halladay: $108,991,666 Earned (Due $60 Million)

2 of 13

Acquired from the Blue Jays in a trade prior to the 2010 season, Halladay wasted little time finding a place to live in Pennsylvania, as he bought this home in Newtown Square before the season began.

A relative bargain compared to the other homes on this list at $2,288,500, it is still huge at five bedrooms and six bathrooms. It also includes a spa, workout room, swimming pool and has a guest house.

Carlos Beltran: $134,952,782 Earned (Due $26 Million)

3 of 13

Now a member of the Cardinals, Beltran still owns an impressive condo at 425 Fifth Avenue that he purchased for $6.995 million.

The full-floor apartment is three-bedrooms, three-bathrooms and has a full 360-degree view of the city including the Statue of Liberty.

Rivera currently has one of his two Tampa, Fla., homes on the market for just under $9 million, while teammate and close neighbor Jorge Posada also has his Tampa home on the market.

A resident of the Central Florida community of Isleworth in the offseason during his playing career, Griffey began construction on his current mansion in 2005 and had it completed in 2008.

Greg Maddux: $153,845,000 Earned

7 of 13

Maddux formerly had a home in Alpharetta, Ga., but sold it in 2004 after leaving the Atlanta Braves and signing with the Chicago Cubs prior to the 2004 season.

He played five more seasons for the Cubs, Dodgers, Padres and then Dodgers again before retiring after the 2008 season and he now lives in this Las Vegas home.

Chipper Jones: $155,552,133 Earned (Due $20 Million)

The veteran third baseman has spent his entire career with the Braves since being drafted first overall in the 1990 MLB draft and he purchased his current home in 2005 for $4.33 million.

A five-bedroom, six-bathroom home is located in Roswell, Ga., and is just down the street from is previous home.

Gary Sheffield: $168,008,550 Earned

9 of 13

Retired from baseball following the 2009 season, Sheffield purchased his $4.35 million mansion in the spring of 2010.

The two-story Colonial has six bedrooms, a rec room, a pool and a guest house among other impressive features and was built in 2000.

Barry Bonds: $188,245,322 Earned

10 of 13

One of Bonds' two homes, his mansion in the gated community of Beverly Park in Beverly Hills, is not only sprawling but also features some impressive neighbors.

Eddie Murphy, Kelsey Grammer, Magic Johnson, Rod Stewart, Mark Wahlberg, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw number among the other celebrities that live in the prestigious community.

Manny Ramirez: $204,807,069 Earned

11 of 13

One of two properties that Ramirez owns in Florida, this mansion in the city of Weston cost him $2.97 million when he bought it back in 2001.

The home is perhaps best known as the place where he was arrested last year after an altercation with his wife.

Derek Jeter: $220,159,364 Earned (Due $36 Million)

12 of 13

With construction taking nearly a year and finishing up in January 2011, Jeter spent $7.7 million to build his Florida mansion.

The 31,000 square-foot mansion has seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a 3-car garage, swimming pool, billiards room and memorabilia room, among other things.

Alex Rodriguez: $296,416,252 Earned (Due $143 Million)

13 of 13

After previously calling a $30,000-per-month apartment at 15 Central Park West home, Rodriguez moved out in February of this past year for a $6 million penthouse at The Rushmore on the Upper West Side.

The five-bedroom penthouse makes up a full floor of the building, but the main reason A-Rod moved to the new place seemed to be a lack of privacy at his old rental.
