WWE Smackdown Results: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
This was a good show. There was not too much that I disliked. Nothing was "must-see" here, but it entertained me for two hours. If I had to give a grade, I would go in the B range.
The Good
The opening segment was a nice start. Daniel Bryan can't cut a promo to save his life, but he did a fine job here. The real star was Mark Henry. He talked up the main event of the evening, while letting everybody know that he will get a World title match next week!
Justin Gabriel defeated Heath Slater with help from Hornswoggle. It was a short match, but Hornswoggle made an appearance, so I am happy.
Cody Rhodes cut a great promo about winning the Royal Rumble. I doubt he will, but he sold it very well. His match with Ezekial Jackson was fun while it lasted. Another good win for Cody!
Drew McIntyre losing to Ted DiBiase was surprising, but next week will be the show to watch. What Teddy Long does to Drew will tell the real story. I still need a reason to care about DiBiase, though.
Sheamus picked up another win over Jinder Mahal. I have said it many times, but he just needs to keep getting pinfalls. Short matches. Long matches. It doesn't matter. If Sheamus wins, it was great!
David Otunga had another entertaining night for the Blue Brand! He beat Santino in a short match, but I really loved the finishing sequence. It is not often you see the "Cobra" reversed, so it was very unpredictable to see!
Brodus Clay beat Tyson Kidd in less than a minute, and I enjoyed every second of it! Clay is a star right now, while Kidd is not. Plus, the ladies with Big Brodus looked excellent, and it is giving two deserving individuals some WWE TV time.
Tamina beat Natalya in a short match. It was not bad, but it certainly was nothing special. Tamina got a win, while Nattie waits for Beth Phoenix to return.
I loved Wade Barrett's promo! It was short, sweet and to the point. Just how I like promos! Next week should be a great match between Sheamus and Wade! The outcome will certainly be one to watch for.
The main event was fine. I am not big on "man-on-woman" violence in this business, but it can work in specific situations. This was one of those cases because it was clearly an accident.
It worked very well. WWE put it over as a "major event," and it stood out. Best of all, it came off as being "real" and had a serious tone. Excellent ending here! Bryan keeps his title for one more week, while AJ and Show add a new layer to Smackdown going forward.
Quick note: Big shout out to Aksana for yet another amazing performance! Keep it up.

The Bad
Hunico was on commentary for a short while, and I did not care one bit. He is growing on me inside the ring, but he was bad here. I do not wish to hear him cut promos again. The worst part was he didn't even add anything to the segment.
The Ugly
Sorry! Did Daniel Bryan really have to mention the "Heyman" line in the opening? Can WWE please stop with this type of thing? Little "insider" remarks only a fraction of the audience understands is just not worth it. I imagine lots of people had no idea what he was talking about, and I do not blame them.
As you can see, I really enjoyed Smackdown tonight. What did you folks think? Let me know your good, bad and ugly below...
