WWE News: WWE Officials Reportedly Considered Creating Divas Tag Team Titles

The WWE currently has six titles: the WWE, World Heavyweight, United States, Intercontinental, Tag Team and Divas Championships.

One could argue that the only two that really matter, though, are the WWE and World Heavyweight titles, and even that might be a bit of a stretch.

Championships just don’t have the same value now that they once did, which is why something that was recently discussed by WWE officials has me absolutely baffled.

After an article appeared on WWE’s website last week about the old Women’s Tag Team Titles, there was talk internally of creating a Divas Tag Team Title but the idea was shot down. The titles would have been mainly for The Bella Twins, who are being given more TV time.

This has got to be a joke, right?

There are so many things wrong with creating Divas Tag Team titles that I could probably write a book about them, but let’s just cover the gist of it.

For starters, titles mean next to nothing in the WWE, and there are already too many titles in the company to begin with. The creative team struggles with booking six titles, so what’s going to happen if the company has seven?

Secondly, the Divas division is essentially nonexistent. There aren’t enough Divas to make a formidable division, and the majority of the ones that are around aren’t any good.

The creative team can hardly come up with challengers for Beth Phoenix’s Divas Championship, so why anyone in the company would think they could book another title for two Divas is beyond me.

The WWE dedicates about two minutes of TV time per show to the Divas, and only like 30 seconds of that features in-ring action. Therefore, creating tag team titles means the WWE would probably have two minutes for two Divas matches and one Divas segment each show.

Just do us all a favor, WWE, and pretend that this was never brought up. Oh yeah, and fire whoever suggested it.
