The Doctor's Weekly WWE Raw Recap: The 121 Things We Learned, Loved and Hated
The Doctor Chris MuellerJun 3, 2018
The second Raw of 2012 left this Doctor feeling like the first Raw of 2012 should have been this show. The show, in my opinion, had plenty of great moments to keep us entertained.
Every week I recap Raw with one of these lists. They are equal parts humor, recap, questions, answers, revelations and speculations. I write them as a fun alternative to the normal recaps. I also write this while the show is airing, so I apologize for any misuse of tense.
I hope you enjoy the 121 things we learned, loved and hated from this week's WWE Raw.

Stage Set for Backlash, More Raw Fallout 👀

Reigns' Air Jordans Release Date
- The show starts off with a video recapping last week's attack on Cena and Ryder by Kane
- I still say the video packages produced by WWE's team are far better than the films produced by WWE
- Kane starts off the show by talking about why he embraces hate
- He starts ripping into the audience, saying we are in denial
- I really like what Kane is doing with this current run, this is a great promo
- Cena runs out looking pissed and he goes right for Kane
- They fight out to the backstage area, and Kane hits a few innocent bystanders in the process
- They get outside and Cena ends up hitting Kane with a crowbar, only to be knocked back into the boxes they were near
- When he gets back up, Kane is gone, Cena looks confused and worried
- When we comes back from commercial, we get Sheamus and Santino vs. Wade Barrett and Jinder Mahal
- Interesting note, none of these wrestlers are billed form the US, rare thing to see four men in a WWE ring, all born outside the US
- Decent match until Santino takes out his Socko, I mean Cobra and gets the win for his team
- Miz is backstage pleading to Laurinaitis to do something about Truth's repeated attacks
- The Macchiato Mauler is there sipping from his mug again
- I am trying to get the nickname Macchiato Mauler to catch on for Otunga, spread the word
- Johnny Ace reminds Miz he brought this on himself, and he has more important things to worry about
- Like the debut of Brodus Clay
- He's not little Jimmy, he is Big Johnny
- I like this guy more and more every week
- Otunga was standing next to him and he looked like he had to walk off to keep from laughing, I don't blame him, JL's delivery was great
- By the way, I am calling John Laurinaitis JL from here forward, I am sick of typing his name
- We get the first announcement for the 2012 Hall of Fame class
- YES! It's Edge
- Great video package detailing some of Edge's best moments
- It had better be Christian who inducts him
- Miz is trying to get Mason Ryan to help him out; Ryan is not having any of it
- I forgot all about that guy, I guess being green was too much to keep him in the spotlight
- Ryder is talking to Eve
- He asks her out on a date and she can't come up with an excuse not to, so she agrees
- I like Ryder, but Eve must have exhausted all other options at this point
- As they walk away, Kane comes out of a door he was listening to them from behind
- I guess he is turning into a stalker
- Next match is Kofi Kingston vs. Daniel Bryan
- This match should be good
- I guess Kofi challenged Bryan on WWE.com after how Bryan beat Show last week
- They shake hands to start off, looks like Bryan is trying to play up the whole "innocent heel" role he has been given
- The finish where Bryan reversed a cross body into a LeBell lock was awesome
- I have noticed Cole has been going a lot easier on Bryan since the heel turn started
- Big Show comes out looking pretty psyched for some reason
- He tries to talk, but Bryan cuts him off saying he is also unhappy about the ending to their match last week and would like to give Show another shot
- Show says that is good news because Teddy Long made a no-DQ match for this week's SmackDown
- Bryan looks worried but acts like he is fine with it
- Considering there is still no World Title match set for the Rumble I would not be surprised to see Show win the title, but a no DQ match means Henry could get involved or Bryan could use weapons to win
- OK, finally we will get the debut of Brodus Clay
- What the hell is this?
- Clay comes out to funk music with dancing women and he is dressed in a track suit complete with bucket hat
- We get weeks of videos hyping a monster and the debut is the Funkasaurus?
- I am having flashbacks to 2 Cool right now
- I wonder if this is a punishment for spoiling an angle on Twitter
- He is the white Rikishi
- I will admit those girls in the catsuits are a nice touch
- Clay yells "I bet you didn't see that coming" to someone
- He was right
- He has actually won me over with this gimmick after about a minute, I like it
- This reminds me of 10 years ago when more people had crazy gimmicks that were entertaining
- Bret Hart said WWE needed a King Kong Bundy type, he gets it in Brodus Clay
- Clay squashed Curt Hawkins in a fun match which had the announcers laughing a lot
- Clay looks like he really enjoyed himself, I wonder how far this will take him
- I like his theme music too, it's a nice change
- They show Ryder brushing his teeth and Kane is shown stalking him some more from the mirror
- Now I am having flashbacks to Ultimate Warrior haunting Hogan on Nitro
- Miz tries to get Primo and Epico help him against Truth, they say no and walk off
- My god does Rosa look good in that dress
- Punk walks up and laughs at the Miz's misfortune
- Swagger vs. Punk is up next
- JL comes out and says to show he is fair he will ban Vickie and Swagger from ringside at the Rumble if Punk beats Swagger tonight
- Punk looks skeptical about this
- Punk and Swagger have a great match with lots of good offense for Swagger
- Punk really let Swagger look good where most times he gets buried, this was great to see
- JL stops Ziggler from attacking Punk at one point, very interesting
- Clay is trending worldwide, I hate Twitter but good for him, first night out and he is on top
- Swagger could be a much better heel if WWE let him
- Punk hits his Macho Man elbow
- The ref botches the count and Punk wins
- Punk looks really pissed at the ref, for good reason
- JL congratulates him and leaves, Punk looks like he is swearing his head off at the ref
- They actually show a replay in slow motion and talk about how the ref screws up
- This is great, the last time I saw this happen was The Hardys vs. Miz and Morrison and WWE said nothing and fired the ref the next day
- I hope WWE does the smart thing and makes a storyline out of this where Swagger is really pissed he got screwed
- They cut back to Cena and Ryder talking and Cena is finishing a joke by saying "Now that's what I call Marine Biology"
- WWE missed the boat on making a very dirty PG joke, I have seen it pulled off beautifully before
- Ryder passed Miz to become one of the top five most followed WWE superstars on Twitter
- I hope everyone cares about this as much as I do
- Which is "not at all"
- In fairness to Ryder he has done an excellent job of getting himself over through social media, kudos to him for it
- Unrelated note, my neighbor is cooking bacon and it is pissing me off because I can smell it and don't have any of my own
- Can someone explain why the Mashable awards are so important all of a sudden?
- The Bellas called Ricardo Rodriguez all the way from Mexico so they can give him a message for Del Rio, which he won't get because Miz interrupts and makes Rodriguez go to the ring to call out Truth for a distraction
- The 4 Horsemen are also being inducted into the Hall of Fame this year
- Wait, why the hell is Ole Anderson being snubbed
- Barry Windham did enough to stand on his own in the hall, they should have given this spot to Ole
- I wonder what the odds of Flair showing up on stage will be
- Rodriguez is in the ring calling out Truth with some of the worst insults ever
- Truth comes out and gives Ricardo Rodriguez a Ricky Ricardo impression
- They go back and forth before Truth gets Rodriguez to sing a song about a cockroach
- He seems hesitant at first but he eventually gets into it and gets a nice reaction from the crowd
- Truth ends up hitting his finisher, but Miz pounces from the crowd
- Truth turns it around and sends Miz running through the crowd
- Truth looks like he has a little more confidence this week, may be it's just me but he has been improving this gimmick each week
- Jericho is given a very flattering introduction before he comes out
- He runs around the ring and does the same thing where he hypes up the crowd a lot
- He grabs a mic but before he can speak he breaks down in tears
- He walks off again without a word
- I could not have predicted this if I tried 100 times, Jericho breaking down in tears and walking off is a good swerve
- Eve is out next for a match
- Kane's music hits and Ryder runs out and whisks Eve away to safety
- Ryder drives a Scion, with a flat tire
- Ryder starts trying to change the tire as we go to commercial
- Cena vs Ziggler is up next
- This should be a good match
- Ziggler does a lot of his show off moves during the match, including a mid-headlock headstand
- Ziggler is slowly turning into Skip
- Remember Skip, from Sunny and Skip?
- Rest in Peace, Chris Candido
- They show Ryder changing his tire on the Titantron
- Kane attacks and puts Ryder through some pallets from an elevated position
- Cena bails and goes to check on Ryder
- Kane attacks him and uses his hand to smother Cena for the third time
- Raw goes off the air with Ryder and Cena laid out
- This show felt like one from years ago, lots of backstage stuff and some decent comedy
- I am happy to see Raiders of the Lost Ark is on next
