Hall of Fame Voting: Bernie Williams of New York Yankees Falls Short in Voting

Mike MoraitisMay 31, 2018

New York Yankees legened Bernie Williams has fallen short in his bid to enter the Hall of Fame on his first try, according to reports.

Williams, who established himself as a great Yankee over 16 seasons in Major League Baseball, isn't highly considered Hall-of-Fame material.

He hit 287 home runs and 1,257 RBI, posting a .297 average.

While there is no doubt about Williams' value to Yankee history, that doesn't translate into a Hall-of-Fame player. He played in an illustrious position in MLB history, and in comparing his numbers to some of the greats ever to play, you can clearly see where he falls short.

This is not to speak badly of Williams, who in his own right, was a great leader in the Bronx. He won four World Series rings with New York, a department in which he doesn't fall short to qualify for the Hall of Fame.

He was one of the good guys in the game during his career, never causing distractions or problems for the Yankees. Williams was a model member of the pinstripes everyday he was on the field, to this very day.

Unfortunately for Williams and his fans, that won't be good enough to get him elected to the Hall of Fame.

Congratulations to Barry Larkin, who, during his career, was consistently one of the best in the league at his position and was the only one on the ballot who deserved this distinction.
