WWE Rumors: Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton and Monday's Top WWE News

Adam WellsJan 9, 2012

We are still three weeks away from the Royal Rumble, yet WWE has not done a lot to build up the show. Aside from the CM Punk and Dolph Ziggler match for the WWE championship, we know nothing about the show.

Hopefully, Raw will provide us with some more answers and give us some incite as to who will be participating in the Rumble match. We also get some follow-up to Chris Jericho's return, though how much we get no one knows right now.

We will have all the latest news, notes and information from the mind of Vince McMahon and give you our take on all possible behind the scenes scenarios that WWE is kicking around.

UNDERTAKER REPORTEDLY GETTING HIS MATCH WITH BROCK LESNAR

While there are likely going to be many reports coming out over the next two months until the match is set, the latest news that is being floated around is that Lesnar will, in fact, make his return at this year's WrestleMania to take on The Undertaker.

Question on Everybody's Mind: If the report is true, is Lesnar the right opponent?

Our Take: Not this year. I can understand the allure of putting Lesnar on the show, but this year's 'Mania is going to sell based on how well Rock and John Cena gets promoted. Everything beyond that is largely irrelevant.

Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 F-5s

Take this latest report with a grain of salt, because until Lesnar actually shows up in WWE nothing is definite. But the fact that we are able to talk about it is exciting, and does give some hope that he will do something with the company sometime soon.

RANDY ORTON GETTING THE "ROYAL" TREATMENT?

While there are a lot of people doubting the severity of Orton's back injury, we do know that he will be back later on this month. So, naturally, it would appear that WWE is building him as the surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble and the winner.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Orton again, really?

Our Take: Looking at the state of WWE right now, there really is no one else that can win the match. I suppose you could make an argument for Chris Jericho, but aside from those two, there is nobody that should win the match.

Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 Herniated Discs

It's not like the winner of the Rumble is going to be asked to sell WrestleMania, so I can't complain too much if Orton does end up being the winner. I would like to think that WWE could build up others who can actually win it, but looking at the roster right now, it's a sad state of affairs.

KEVIN NASH AND ULTIMATE WARRIOR DOING SOME MMA

This story is a few days old, but I couldn't resist the urge to comment on it. If you haven't heard, Nash and Warrior are getting into it on Twitter and Nash issued a challenge for a shoot fight in a cage if both men put up $100,000.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Will we see these two AARP members lock horns?

Our Take: I would pay more money to see them fight than I did for UFC 141 with Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem, and I am not so sure that Nash and Warrior wouldn't put on a better show.

Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 Vince Russo Shoots

While this whole back and forth has been going on, the only thing that I could think of is: It is amazing that Warrior is actually the voice of reason in this whole situation.

JACK SWAGGER THINKS WWE WILL PUSH HIM

Unlike most big wrestlers in WWE, Swagger actually has the ability to work because of his background in amateur wrestling. He did an interview recently in which he proclaimed that 2012 would be "the year of Swag."

Question on Everybody's Mind: Does anyone else believe him?

Our Take: I want to because he actually has talent and could be good for WWE, but he has never been booked to look like anything more than a mid-card guy, and that is being kind. Even when he was world champion, he looked like a bigger jobber than Santino Marella.

Hype Meter: 3 out of 5 Swagger Bombs

Swagger is just one of the many failures WWE has had in recent years. It is hard to fault him because he does the best he can with whatever role the company has for him.
