Brandon Aiyuk's Drops vs. Jets Called Out by NFL Fans After $120M 49ers Contract
Brandon Aiyuk didn't start the 2024 season on a high note.
The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver struggled during the team's 32-19 victory over the New York Jets on Monday Night Football, hauling in two receptions for 28 yards on five targets.
With the 49ers leading 13-7 and attempting to score just before halftime, Brock Purdy threw a pass to Aiyuk in the corner of the end zone. The ball hit the 26-year-old's hands, although he was unable to come down with it and San Francisco settled for a field goal.

Predictions for Top Position Battles
Aiyuk dropped two passes in the first half after recording just two drops throughout his entire 2023 campaign.
Fans were disappointed with his performance after he signed a massive four-year, $120 million contract extension on Aug. 29.
Aiyuk was holding in for a new contract throughout San Francisco's training camp, giving him less time to get on the same page with Purdy ahead of the team's season-opener.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters earlier in the week that the wide receiver would likely see a slightly reduced number of snaps against the Jets with his extension situation recently resolved (via ESPN's Nick Wagoner).
Aiyuk will look to find some consistency in San Francisco's Week 2 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.
