WWE's Booker T Says Jake Paul Would KO Bobby Lashley in Boxing Fight
After departing WWE this summer, Bobby Lashley announced that he has plans to try his hand at boxing, but WWE Hall of Famer Booker T warned him not to chase a matchup against Jake Paul.
During an appearance on The Laboratory with Plaz earlier this month, Lashley discussed his interests outside of professional wrestling and said, "I'm going to do a boxing match. We've already talked about this boxing match. I might have an opportunity to do it. I'm boxing somebody in Vegas. There is an opponent."
Booker T said during his Hall of Fame podcast that while he respects Lashley's ambition, he doesn't want the 48-year-old to get too ahead of himself by pursuing a fight against Paul, who is set to face Mike Tyson on Nov. 15.
"I like Bobby, but if you want to go get knocked out, go fight Jake Paul," Booker T said (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News). "Doesn't matter [that he's bigger] one bit. [Lashley is] older, slower, as well as he hasn't been training to be a boxer. Boxing is not something you play, as real as it possible could be. If I was advising Bobby Lashley, I would advise him, 'Bro. Do something else.'"
Paul has a professional boxing record of 10-1. The 27-year-old has faced criticism for choosing matchups against older opponents who don't have a background in boxing. His upcoming bout against the 58-year-old Tyson is no different, but it's a marquee event that will be broadcast on Netflix.
Lashley shared a video of his boxing training on Instagram. He also previously competed in MMA and has a professional record of 15-2, so he's no slouch when it comes to combat sports. It will be interesting to see how things play out as he adds a new discipline to his repertoire.
