MLB Trade Rumors: Dodgers Eyeing SPs at 2024 Deadline, Garrett Crochet Linked
The Los Angeles Dodgers have their eyes on starting pitching prior to the trade deadline, and Chicago White Sox left-hander Garrett Crochet appears to be an "ideal" addition, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
The 6'6" Crochet, who is 25 years old, has gone 6-6 with a 3.02 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and an American League-high 141 strikeouts over 18 starts (101.1 innings). He is under team control over the next three seasons.

It seems to be a matter of if and not when Crochet leaves town.
USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported on June 30 that the White Sox have "no optimism" about coming to a contract agreement with Crochet and now have the intention of dealing him before the July 30 trade deadline.
Of course, the Dodgers aren't shy about throwing hundreds of millions of dollars at star players, and Crochet may be no exception. So they'd certainly be able to land a long-term deal with the southpaw.
The issue is whether the Dodgers can overcome any competition for Crochet. It's not often that 25-year-old ace left-handers become available on the trading block. And so it's no surprise that Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported on June 20 that "every contending team" has interest in Crochet.
We'll see if the Dodgers are able to land Crochet, but this ultimately looks like a multi-team race to land the star.
