WWE News: Chris Jericho's Raw Quarter Hour Segment Lost Viewers

Justin WatryJun 7, 2018

Well, it sure has been an interesting week for WWE. We are in the new year. Chris Jericho is back with WWE, and Smackdown has a major show tomorrow night.

With that being said, a ratings note has come out from this past Monday's Raw.

According to this report, the quarter hour segment reveal of Chris Jericho on WWE Raw lost 80,000 viewers.

To no surprise, the same report says the promo segment with a John Cena promo was the highest rated segment of the night.

My thoughts on this news?

Honestly, I am surprised. However, I am not shocked.

I was critical of WWE's placement of the "It Begins" segment from the beginning. Throwing it on after a divas match in the middle of the second hour was just asking for trouble. That thing was almost buried from the get go.

Either put it at the top of the second hour or close the show. It is that simple.

I understand wanting to keep viewers throughout the entire show, but this was a bad move. The audience at home is now conditioned to expect the major segment to either open the show, be an hour in or close the program.

These have been rare occasions, but that has been the "usual route" for decades now. The WWE Universe knows that.

All in all, what does this number mean? Not much in the grand scheme of things. Cena is by the top star in this industry, and Jericho's promo was oddly placed in his return. No big deal.

I was disappointed by the number for Raw, but it is going to be a long three months to WrestleMania.

The Undertaker is surely on his way back. Triple H is poising himself to make a big splash when he gets back. The Rock and John Cena are also getting primed for some major "must-see" WWE TV in the next month or two.

Until then, I think everybody would love to see the numbers increase in the future...
