Luis Arráez After Padres Trade: 'This Is My First Day, and I Love This Team Already'
San Diego Padres infielder Luis Arráez is already enjoying his new team following a trade from the Miami Marlins on Friday.
"This is my first day, and I love this team already," Arráez said, according to Dennis Lin of The Athletic. "I hope we continue to play like that and then stay together, man. We are family, and I just want to be here and do my little things."
The feeling is likely mutual, as the reining National League batting champion got off to a hot start in his first appearance with the Padres.

Arráez racked up four hits in six plate appearances during San Diego's 13-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday, becoming the first player in franchise history to record a four-hit game in his debut.
The 27-year-old was acquired by the Padres in exchange for outfield prospects Dillon Head, Jacob Marsee, and Nathan Martorella. The Marlins also received right-handed reliever Woo Suk-Go as part of the deal.
Despite his league-leading .354 batting average in 2023, his hitting prowess wasn't helping a Miami team that currently sits at the bottom of the NL East standings with a 9-26 record. While San Diego has gotten off to a sluggish 18-18 start, the team is still within comfortable striking distance of a postseason spot with 126 games remaining.
Arráez will look to continue his torrid start to his Padres career during their next game, another clash with the Diamondbacks on Sunday at 4:10 p.m. ET.
