NFL Scout Compares Rome Odunze to Raiders' Davante Adams, Calls WR a 'Day One Star'

It doesn't take much to find a lofty comparison for the top wide receivers in the 2024 NFL draft, with at least one scout noting Washington star Rome Odunze boasts a lot of similarities to arguably the best wideout of this generation.

Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the scout compared Odunze's skill set favorably to that of Davante Adams and believes he will be "a day one star" in the league.

The top three receivers in this year's class—Odunze, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers—are all regarded as potential top-10 picks.

B/R's NFL scouting department has them ranked among the top-eight prospects, led by Harrison as the No. 1 overall player. Odunze is the lowest-ranked player of the three at No. 8, one spot behind Nabers.

The Arizona Cardinals (No. 4 pick), Chicago Bears (No. 9) and New York Jets (No. 10) are all bringing Odunze in as part of their top-30 pre-draft visits. Each of the three teams has a need at wide receiver.

The Jets, with Aaron Rodgers set to be their starting quarterback in 2024, would be particularly interesting for Odunze if he comes into the league with an Adams-like skill set.

Adams fell to the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the 2014 draft. He spent two years as a third option in the offense before breaking out in 2016 with 997 yards and 12 touchdowns.

It seems unlikely that Odunze will need three seasons to become a star if he reaches his full potential in the NFL. He led the nation with 1,640 receiving yards last season to help the Huskies win the Pac-12 and reach the College Football Playoff Championship Game.
