Jets Rumors: Rome Odunze Scheduled for Visit Ahead of 2024 NFL Draft amid Bears Buzz

The New York Jets have significantly retooled their roster this offseason and now they're turning their attention to the NFL draft by meeting with one of the top receiver prospects.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Jets will host Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze for a visit on Wednesday. Odunze also has scheduled visits with the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals, per ESPN's Brady Henderson.

The Athletic's Dane Brugler reported last month that "a popular theory to emerge from combine buzz was that a Bears-Odunze pairing might be the best fit in the draft." Chicago holds the No. 1 and No. 9 picks in the first round, giving the team the opportunity to add a pair of game-changers.

The Bears are widely expected to select USC star quarterback Caleb Williams with the top pick, and adding Odunze later on would give them a gifted quarterback-receiver tandem for years to come. However, Chicago already made a significant addition by acquiring six-time Pro Bowl receiver Keenan Allen from the Los Angeles Chargers, so the team could be eyeing a different position with the No. 9 pick.

The Jets, who hold the No. 10 pick, also added talent across the board this offseason. New York will have three new starting offensive linemen in guard John Simpson and tackles Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses. The team will also have a new No. 2 receiver behind Garrett Wilson after signing former Chargers receiver Mike Williams, who is recovering from ACL surgery.

Adding Odunze to the mix would give the Jets a dangerous trio that star quarterback Aaron Rogers would enjoy having at his disposal. The former Husky posted 87 catches for 1,553 yards and 13 touchdowns last season on his way to earning consensus All-American honors.

B/R's NFL Scouting Department ranked Odunze as the No. 3 receiver in its latest draft big board. In the latest mock draft, he was predicted to be selected by the New York Giants with the sixth pick, so he could be off the board before the Jets or Bears get the chance to select him.
