Alabama's Dallas Turner to Meet with Bears, Vikings, More Ahead of 2024 NFL Draft

Joseph ZuckerMar 20, 2024

The list of prospective suitors for Alabama edge-rusher Dallas Turner might be coming into focus ahead of the 2024 NFL draft.

He told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero he has scheduled visits with the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings ahead.

Turner declined to fully take part in Alabama's pro day in Tuscaloosa, which didn't come as a surprise since he's already considered one of the top defensive players in the draft. He's the No. 12 overall player and the second-best edge-rusher behind Florida State's Jared Verse in Bleacher Report's big board.

B/R NFL scout Matt Holder compared Turner to former linebacker Manny Lawson, who had 24.5 sacks across a 10-year career.

"Dallas Turner might be the best pure athlete in this year's edge class," Holder wrote. "He has a good get-off and is a smooth-mover when working laterally. Not to mention his speed, which allows him to close on quarterbacks and make hustle plays down the field with chase-down tackles."

The Bears, Falcons and Vikings could all theoretically be in play for Turner.

Chicago is all but guaranteed to take USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick but could look to defense when it's back on the clock with the No. 9 pick. Atlanta took itself out of the QB market by signing Kirk Cousins. Minnesota, which needs to replace Cousins, might have different priorities with the 11th pick depending the availability and its opinion of Michigan's J.J. McCarthy.

Coaches, executives and talent evaluators would've liked to get a first-hand look at Turner during drills and workouts Wednesday, but he has already put plenty of compelling evidence on film.

And at least three teams will have another chance to meet with him personally.
