Bulls' Zach LaVine Says He's 'Ahead of Schedule' After Surgery on Foot Injury

It looks like Chicago Bulls forward Zach LaVine's injury recovery is going well.

K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago reported that LaVine is "ahead of schedule" after undergoing surgery to repair a "non-union Jones fracture." Johnson also reported that LaVine hopes to be at full strength in three months, which would be ahead of schedule from the four-to-six month timeline that was originally laid out.

LaVine confirmed that he will be ready to go for training camp. He underwent season-ending surgery in February.

LaVine played in 25 games for the Bulls this season, averaging 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists. He was the subject of trade rumors before undergoing the surgery, with teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks linked to the guard.

LaVine, a two-time All-Star, is under contract through the 2025-26 season with a player option for 2026-27. Given how often he's surfaced in trade rumors over the past year, it would seem possible he could become a trade candidate again this summer.

Chicago is currently 31-32 and in ninth place in the Eastern Conference without LaVine. That puts the team in line for the play-in tournament, with the Atlanta Hawks (29-34) two games back of the Bulls entering play on Saturday.
