Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, More NFL Stars React to Xavier Worthy's Record 40 Time
NFL Draft prospect Xavier Worthy made a lot of heads turn at the 2024 NFL Combine.
The former Texas Longhorns receiver ran a 4.21-second 40-yard dash on Saturday, which was the fastest time of the day and also the fastest recorded time in combine history.
Players from across the NFL took to social media to celebrate the accomplishment, including stars ike Patrick Mahomes, Micah Parsons and Tyreek Hill.
Worthy's time beats the previous record of 4.22, set by John Ross III at the 2017 combine. He would go on to be selected No. 9 overall and was the third receiver off the board.
Worthy was rated as the No. 8 receiver in the class by Bleacher Report's Derrik Klassen and was projected as a third-round pick. Saturday's showing could help him move up the board, even in a draft class loaded with talents like Marvin Harrison Jr, Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze.
Worthy is coming off a 2023 season where he had 75 catches for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns while helping the Longhorns win the Big 12 and reach the College Football Playoff for the first time.
The NFL Draft is set to take place April 25-27 in Detroit.
