Daniel Jeremiah 2024 NFL Mock Draft: Jayden Daniels to Giants, McCarthy to Falcons

Joseph ZuckerFeb 20, 2024

The 2024 NFL draft will feature a quarterback-heavy top 10 if the mock of NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah accurately predicts the future.

Jeremiah led off with USC's Caleb Williams and North Carolina's Drake Maye going first and second overall. That wasn't much of a surprise since both are widely considered the two best QBs on the board.

Jeremiah also had LSU star Jayden Daniels landing with the New York Giants at No. 6 and Michigan star J.J. McCarthy going to the Atlanta Falcons two picks later.

The Giants might already have buyer's remorse with the four-year, $160 million contract they gave to Daniel Jones. Jones tore his ACL in November and his performance had badly regressed before that. In six starts, he threw for 909 yards, two touchdowns and six interceptions.

Selecting Daniels would likely be welcomed by the fanbase after the Heisman Trophy winner was the most electric quarterback in college football. He finished with 3,812 yards through the air, 1,134 yards on the ground and 50 total touchdowns.

The 23-year-old isn't without some risk. He's on the older end of the scale for a draft prospect, and his 2023 production was an outlier in an otherwise pretty good but not otherworldly college career.

Still, Daniels has a boatload of potential that warrants top-10 consideration.

The Falcons have a more pressing need for a quarterback, and they've telegraphed a shakeup to the QB room this offseason. McCarthy might be a somewhat hard sell to fans in Atlanta, though.

In two years as a starter at Michigan, he threw for 5,710 yards and 44 touchdowns to nine interceptions. His completion percentage also climbed from 64.6 in 2022 too 72.3 in 2023.

However, McCarthy has been described as a more athletic Kirk Cousins, and Bleacher Report NFL scout Derrik Klassen compared him to Baker Mayfield. He's the No. 55 overall player on B/R's 2024 big board.

One can't help but wonder whether Atlanta would be best served by looking in a different direction if it doesn't move out of the top 10 or trade up in order to land Williams, Maye or Daniels.
