2012 NFL Draft Order: Bold Predictions for Each Top 10 Team
Well, the 10 worst teams in the National Football League have been decided—by record at least.
Headlining the worst teams in the NFL are the Indianapolis Colts, who went 2-14 behind some random quarterbacks not named Peyton Manning.
The Buffalo Bills will receive the No. 10 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by forgetting to play defense.
And somewhere in the middle are the St. Louis Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, two teams with legitimate playoff aspirations before the season started.
Fortunately for these teams, there's always next season. It also doesn't hurt to have a Top-10 draft pick.
Here are bold predictions for each top 10 team.
2012 NFL Draft Order
1. Indianapolis Colts
2. St. Louis Rams
3. Minnesota Vikings
4. Cleveland Browns
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
6. Washington Redskins
7. Jacksonville Jaguars
8t. Carolina Panthers
8t. Miami Dolphins
10. Buffalo Bills
1. Indianapolis Will Draft QB Andrew Luck, Trade Peyton Manning
1 of 10The reality is, it's going to be hard for the Colts to keep both Peyton Manning and Stanford's Andrew Luck next season.
Luck will eat up a boatload of money, and the Colts need to fill plenty of positions as it is.
This will mark the end of Manning's tenure in Indianapolis.
2. St. Louis Won't Draft Justin Blackmon
2 of 10A lot of people think the St. Louis Rams will grab Oklahoma State receiver Justin Blackmon at No. 2 overall, especially after his marvelous performance in the Fiesta Bowl.
But the Rams will opt for USC offensive tackle Matt Kalil to protect quarterback Sam Bradford. Kalil is actually a better prospect for his position than Blackmon is.
3. Minnesota Will Ignore Better Prospects for Need
3 of 10The Minnesota Vikings could draft a lot of excellent prospects at No. 3 overall.
However, they'll opt for Stanford offensive tackle Jonathan Martin instead, ensuring young quarterback Christian Ponder at least has some protection next season.
4. Cleveland Will Trade No. 4 Pick, Get Seattle's No. 11 Pick and Second-Rounder
4 of 10The Cleveland Browns could go a variety of directions here, but I see them trading the No. 4 pick for the Seattle Seahawks' No. 11 pick and their 2012 second-rounder.
That way, the Browns could draft someone like Miami Hurricanes running back Lamar Miller, still have the Atlanta Falcons' first-round pick and have multiple second-rounders.
The Seahawks would use the pick on Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III.
5. Tampa Bay Will Draft Morris Claiborne, Force Ronde Barber into Retirement
5 of 10It isn't a big surprise that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would draft a cornerback here, especially one as sensational as LSU's Morris Claiborne.
What is a surprise is that it will force veteran corner Ronde Barber into retirement.
6. Washington Will Trade Pick, Get Bears' No. 19 Pick and Future First-Rounder
6 of 10With Robert Griffin III off the board, the Washington Redskins will go another direction, trading the No. 6 pick for the Chicago Bears' No. 19 pick and a future first-rounder.
This would allow the Redskins to possibly land Stanford guard David DeCastro at No. 19 and go after a quarterback in free agency.
The Bears would use the No. 6 pick on Oklahoma State receiver Justin Blackmon.
7. Jacksonville Will Draft Alshon Jeffery
7 of 10After a disappointing regular season, a lot of draft experts had South Carolina receiver Alshon Jeffery dropping out of the Top 10.
Now, after a big performance in the Capital One Bowl, the Jaguars will re-think things and go with Jeffery at No. 7 overall to give young quarterback Blaine Gabbert a dynamic weapon.
8. Carolina Will Draft OLB Zach Brown
8 of 10North Carolina outside linebacker Zach Brown isn't considered a Top-10 prospect by most draft experts, but he's a complete linebacker who will be hard for the Carolina Panthers to pass up.
Brown can help against the run, the pass and as a pass-rusher. The Panthers will go for someone who can help them in a variety of areas.
9. Trent Richardson Will Fall to Miami at No. 9
9 of 10Alabama running back Trent Richardson is being looked at as an Adrian Peterson-type player by some draft experts.
That's why him falling to No. 9, despite being a running back, is hard to imagine.
But given the way the first nine picks play out, Richardson should fall to the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins don't need a running back, but a prospect of Richardson's caliber will be hard to pass up.
10. The Bills Will Trade Pick, Get Redskins' No. 19 Pick and Second-Rounder
10 of 10Change of plans!
The Buffalo Bills, realizing they are in a weird position for an outside linebacker, will trade the No. 10 pick for the Redskins' recently acquired No. 19 pick and their second-rounder.
The Bills use the No. 19 pick to draft the fast-rising outside linebacker from Illinois, Whitney Mercilus.
The Redskins grab Notre Dame receiver Michael Floyd with the No. 10 pick.
