Chris Jericho WWE Return Video: Watch Y2J Break Down the 'It Begins' Enigma

Chris Jericho made his triumphant return to the WWE on Monday Night RAW after weeks of speculation and mysterious videos. Most of the WWE Universe had figured Y2J was the man behind the cryptic 'It Begins' campaign, but his actions last night were completely unexpected.

Following a recap of the vignettes, the lights go dark for quite some time before Y2J's signature pose shows up thanks to a lighted vest. When the arena lights pop back on, the crowd goes wild as one of the most popular wrestlers in recent memory is confirmed as the mystery man.

Then it gets weird.

Jericho spends nearly 10 minutes playing up to the crowd. He gets out of the ring to interact with the fans and leads them in cheers. At one point he gets a microphone, but quickly drops it, which certainly seemed like a quick shot at CM Punk, and returns to pumping up the crowd.

While the fans were into it for awhile, they eventually grow tired of cheering and want to hear the man of the moment speak. Instead, he gets out of the ring again and starts going up the ramp while continuing the greet fans.

He eventually makes his way make to the stage where he starts to hear some boos. With his mission accomplished, he retreats backstage and calls it a night.

I say mission accomplished because it appears the goal was to build Jericho up before executing a rapid-fire heel turn. By doing nothing for his entire re-debut following a huge amount of build up, the minor heat he received was exactly what he and the creative team were hoping for.

He spent several weeks denying rumors that he would be making his return, but there were few other options. Jericho wouldn't have come back unless there were big plans for him, which means a feud with CM Punk is likely on the horizon and a heel turn was necessary.

It was a well-executed comeback and sent social media into chaos. That's music to Vince McMahon's ears. Now things will get fun.
