NFL Draft 2023 Rumors: Eagles, Steelers, Packers, Falcons, Titans Linked to Trades Up

Joseph ZuckerApr 27, 2023

The Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans have all shown interest in trading up in the 2023 NFL draft, according to NFL.com's Lance Zierlein.

Zierlein added that "pretty much everybody" would consider a trade to move back.

There at least seems to be some consensus regarding whom the Titans seem to be targeting. In their final mock drafts, ESPN's Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr. both projected Tennessee to trade up to No. 3 to get Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Dianna Russini of ESPN reported the Arizona Cardinals, who have the third overall pick, have fielded "trade offers from multiple teams" leading up to the draft.

The Steelers and Falcons could theoretically make the same play, though they both started rookie quarterbacks for stretches in 2022. For Pittsburgh, it would be especially surprising if the team already wanted to move on from Kenny Pickett, a 2022 first-round pick.

Likewise, the Packers have cleared the deck to start Jordan Love, so executing a deal to move up and select a QB wouldn't make a ton of sense.

There's always uncertainty surrounding how the draft will unfold, and the first round typically sees multiple trades. Zierlein's report, particularly about the willingness of teams to trade down, could reflect the level of talent on offer in the 2023 class.

Only four players (Alabama's Will Anderson Jr., Georgia's Jalen Carter, Clemson's Myles Murphy and Texas' Bijan Robinson) were given at least a top-10 grade in Bleacher Report's big board. Anderson and Carter are the only ones considered top-five prospects.

In general, there isn't as much of an advantage to having an earlier pick as there might've been in past drafts.
