NFL Playoff Schedule: 4 Players We Can't Wait to See on Wild Card Weekend
Wild card weekend is always intriguing, and with the likes of Drew Brees, Calvin Johnson, the Pittsburgh Steelers defense and Roddy White, this year surely won't disappoint.
Don't forget that Tim Tebow character, either.
While the Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots wait for their divisional round opponents, we'll be treated to watching these players perform this weekend.
Drew Brees
1 of 4Duh.
Drew Brees is set the record for the most passing yards in a single season, so why wouldn't he be the most highly-anticipated player to watch this weekend?
He enters the game at home against the Detroit Lions on an absolute tear, having thrown for over 300 yards in seven consecutive contests.
No one distributes the ball better than Brees, and his lightning-quick release and accuracy have torched opposing defenses all year.
He threw for 342 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions against the Lions in the Saints 31-17 win over Detroit in Week 13.
Offensive fireworks are ready to go off inside the Superdome on Saturday.
Calvin Johnson
2 of 4Johnson has averaged 186 receiving yards over his last three games, so like Brees, he enters wild card weekend on a roll.
Nothing against Larry Fitzgerald and others, but Megatron is the most dynamic, hard-to-cover receiver in the NFL, and no one has more big play potential.
Although he was relatively held in check against New Orleans in the first meeting (six catches, 69 yards), something tells me the All-Pro receiver will have a bigger game in what should be another shootout inside the Superdome.
His immense size, speed and ability to bring down the jump ball makes him a must-watch star on Saturday.
Arian Foster
3 of 4Foster was one of the most reliable and productive runners in the NFL this season.
He totaled 1,224 rushing yards with 10 touchdowns and added 53 catches and 617 yards with two receiving touchdowns in 2011.
Talk about your multi-faceted back.
He'll face a stout Cincinnati Bengals run defense, but with T.J. Yates struggling down the stretch, look for him to be featured all afternoon.
I'm expecting somewhere near 30 touches for Foster.
Victor Cruz
4 of 4Victor Cruz, the most notable Pro Bowl snub, is precisely the type of player that everyone can't wait to watch this weekend.
He averaged 18.7 yards per catch this season and finished the year with 1,533 yards and nine scores.
The Giants love featuring him on a variety of deep routes because of his blazing speed and amazing ability to come down with the jump ball, but they aren't afraid to utilize him underneath on shallow routes.
The UMass product has outstanding yards-after-the-catch ability and is extremely hard to bring down in the open field.
New York's game with the Atlanta Falcons should be a wide-open affair, and Cruz, who was targeted 131 times in 2011, will be the go-to target for Eli Manning.
