2012 NFL Draft Order: Where Does Every Team Stand After Regular Season?

Andrea HangstJun 7, 2018

With the regular season now over, the order that teams will be picking in the 2012 NFL draft is becoming clearer. Though the order of the 12 teams in the playoffs is still up in the air, it's not hard to project where every other team will be drafting.

The Indianapolis Colts have the No. 1 draft pick locked up and will likely use it to grab Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, the move potentially spelling the end of Peyton Manning's time in Indy.

But the Colts aren't the only team that needs a quarterback of the future. The Washington Redskins, Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks all would love to draft their long-term starter this year, but with few first-round quarterback options this season, at least one of these teams will have to find options elsewhere, either in free agency or in later rounds.

The St. Louis Rams are set at quarterback, or so it appears, drafting Sam Bradford first overall in 2010, but they certainly need receiving help for him.

With a number of receivers projected to go in the first round, the Rams should have the pick of the crop if providing a reliable target for Bradford is the team's top priority.

The Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the third, fourth and fifth picks in this year's draft, all teams needing significant help at a number of areas heading into 2012.

With a glut of high-level talent available to each of these teams, as long as they use their respective picks wisely they should find themselves a long-term solution to a nagging problem.

The Browns need receiving help as well as a dedicated pass rusher. The Buccaneers need the best player they can get, and the Vikings would be well-served to find an offensive lineman to protect quarterback Christian Ponder.

The Cincinnati Bengals, who have two first-round picks, will likely keep both of them.

With a number of picks owed them by the Oakland Raiders, who traded the picks to acquire quarterback Carson Palmer earlier this season, the Bengals are in an extremely advantageous position, able to build a roster of serious playmakers and remain a contender in the AFC North for seasons to come.

The draft order for teams 21 through 32 has yet to be determined, as the playoffs are just about to get underway. That means there's still time for the draft picture to change significantly. However, with the order of the first 20 picks already set, those teams can start to set their sights on specific players
