Todd McShay Says 'Special' Bryce Young Plays Like 'Smaller Patrick Mahomes'
ESPN's Todd McShay continued drawing comparisons between Alabama's Bryce Young and the current king of the quarterback position in the NFL.
McShay said during Senior Bowl practices this week that Young is not only the No. 1 quarterback in the 2023 NFL draft class, but he's also "special" and is "a smaller Patrick Mahomes."
This isn't the first time the draft expert has connected the two.

Appearing on Get Up in December (via On3's Nick Schultz), McShay argued that Young possesses "that Patrick Mahomes kind of poise and presence in the pocket."
At 6'0", Young is three inches shorter than Mahomes, so they aren't mirror images of one another. But he's coming off a prolific college career.
Young threw for 8,200 yards and 79 touchdowns in two years as the Crimson Tide's starting quarterback. At times, he displayed an almost innate ability to escape pressure and extend plays.
Mahomes has arguably entered the category of star where he has surpassed the usual parallels with incoming rookies. At least among his peers, the two-time first-team All-Pro is unique, and he might wind up being remembered as the most talented quarterback in NFL history.
McShay wasn't saying Young will be as good as Mahomes in the NFL. But even in a stylistic sense, calling him a "smaller" version of Mahomes might be setting the bar unreasonably high.
