Chiefs LB Willie Gay Says 'Nothing' Impresses Him About Joe Burrow, Bengals Offense

Rob GoldbergJan 26, 2023

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay Jr. refused to give credit to the Cincinnati Bengals offense ahead of the AFC Championship Game:

The Bengals enter Sunday's game with a 10-game winning streak, scoring at least 20 points in each game during this stretch. Joe Burrow threw two touchdown passes to lead the team to a dominant 27-10 victory over the Buffalo Bills in the last round, highlighting why he's one of the league's best quarterbacks.

Cincinnati has seemed to have the Chiefs' number as of late as well, winning three straight games against Kansas City over the past two years. This includes the 27-24 upset in last year's AFC Championship Game.

Despite the past success, Gay clearly isn't afraid of the Bengals' red-hot attack.

The linebacker is in the midst of his best season in the NFL, ranking third on the team with 88 tackles to go with 2.5 sacks and one interception returned for a touchdown.

After keeping the Jacksonville Jaguars in check during last round's 27-20 win, the Chiefs defense will look to make a similar impact against Cincinnati.

Of course, this will likely just serve as more bulletin-board material for the Bengals, which have felt slighted throughout the postseason.

Both Burrow and running back Joe Mixon criticized the NFL's plans to have a neutral-field AFC Championship Game between the Chiefs and Bills, while head coach Zac Taylor also mocked the league's playoff scenarios.

The team will certainly take the latest slight as motivation heading into the next game.
