NFL Playoff Predictions: Undeserving Teams That'll Back Their Way Into Playoffs

Donald WoodDec 31, 2011

With the NFL playoff picture to be decided within 48 hours, there are teams still waiting with their future uncertain.

While teams like the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots that are heading into the playoffs on fire, there are others that will lose leading into their playoff run.

Many teams know exactly what to expect from the first week of the postseason, but the following teams could be backing their way into the show without a plan.

Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions are one of the best teams in the NFL this season, but they are playing the Green Bay Packers in the final game of the season.

While most teams take their foot off the throttle at the end of the season, the Packers know how important a running start is for the playoffs. That’s bad news for the Lions.

As much as playing the Green Bay Packers right now is a bad thing, this already has a playoff feel to the divisional matchup and could be a good battle that the Lions can learn from despite the loss.

Cincinnati Bengals

With one of the youngest teams in the NFL, the Cincinnati Bengals' inevitable loss heading into the playoffs may not be that big of a deal. The truth it reveals is monumental, though.

If Cincinnati loses to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, they will prove that they can not beat stellar teams in the AFC.

While it’s true that the Bengals will be backing into the playoffs if they lose, there is an upside. Their most likely matchup would be the decimated Houston Texans. That’s a game they can win.

Denver Broncos

While Tim Tebow is the kind of man you want your child to become, he isn’t the quarterback you want leading your football team.

Although the young quarterback helped bring his team back from the brink of defeat on several occasions, it was the mess Tebow made as well as stellar play of his defense and a weak schedule that made him look as good as he did.

With the Broncos defense coming back to earth, Tebow won’t be able to beat Kansas City this week or Pittsburgh in Round 1 of the playoffs.
