UFC 141 Results: Alistair Overeem TKOs Brock Lesnar into an Early Retirement
On Friday night, Alistair Overeem answered all the questions, and earned a first round TKO victory over the former UFC heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar.
After stuffing an early takedown attempt, Overeem was able to let his offensive attack loose, as he hit Lesnar with punches, knees and the worst of it—kicks.
Overeem landed a lethal body kick to the liver of Lesnar, which he brushed off at first, but then collapsed from.
After that, Overeem followed up with some serious ground and pound, then went to the body of Lesnar, which prompted the stoppage from Mario Yamasaki.
Overeem came into this fight with a lot of questions surrounding him. People said that he hadn't fought the best, and that he wouldn't be able to handle the wrestling of Lesnar.
Well he proved them wrong, and he finished off Lesnar even faster than Cain Velasquez did.
With the loss, Lesnar then announced his retirement from MMA, telling Joe Rogan during the telecast that even if he won, he would have only had one more fight left in the tank.
Up next for Overeem is a match for the UFC heavyweight title against the current champion, Junior "Cigano" dos Santos.
Both of these fighters are known for their outstanding striking abilities, and the fight between these two will surely be one for the ages.
It will also surely not go more than two rounds.
