Rose Bowl 2012: LaMichael James Will Dominate Badgers in Oregon Win

Michael DixonDec 30, 2011

Oregon is finally going to break its BCS slump. We know the Ducks can win the Pac-12—they've done that for each of the last three seasons.

But now, they're going to break the drought and win their BCS game.

The reason is simple.

After the 2009 season, they met up with Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. That Buckeyes' team was a strong defensive unit. After 2010, it was the Auburn defense that the Ducks had to face in the BCS National Championship Game. Again, a strong defense left the Ducks on the losing end.

Now, they are going against Wisconsin. This defense is nowhere near as stingy as Ohio State in 2009 or Auburn in 2010. Sure, Wisconsin can score points, but it won't outscore Oregon. The reason is simple.

LaMichael James is one of the nation's best backs. No back—not Trent Richardson, not Lamar Miller—has as much big-play ability as James. He can literally score from anywhere on the field. Wisconsin's not going to be able to stop that.

Now, I know the Badgers had the third best-scoring defense in the country. But look how the Ducks did against the best offenses the Badgers faced.

Michigan State37 points allowed
Ohio State33 points allowed
Michigan State39 points allowed

None of those offenses stack up to Oregon. None of those backs are as good as James, or anywhere close. Wisconsin's defense will not have an answer to James and the rest of Oregon's high-powered attack.

The Ducks will be up and down the field all game long, and James will lead that charge. He brings more speed than anyone Wisconsin has to face in the Big Ten.

The rest of Oregon's offense will move the ball when Wisconsin has all of its focus on James. When it doesn't, he will burn them every time.

Wisconsin will put up points, but it won't have a defensive answer for James.
