UFC 141 Predictions: Donald Cerrone vs. Nate Diaz Will Steal Spotlight
Forget about the big guys, Donald Cerrone and Nate Diaz will be the most memorable part of Friday night's epic lineup of bouts.
While the mainstream has been spoofed Brock Lesnar's return to the octagon and Alistair Overeem's power as reason to buy into UFC 141, we all know better.
The card is littered with delectable treats that will have all fans of MMA fat and happy well into the New Year. The one that has me excited has to be Donald Cerrone vs. Nate Diaz.
The lightweight match is all about heat versus promise. Donald "The Cowboy" Cerrone is on a tear and has earned his placement atop the division.
You can't deny that Cerrone has been one of the best fighters during a time span that has seen him rail off six consecutive wins. Now he has to face a real test in Nate Diaz. If he can get past Friday unscathed, there may be no other fighter that can take him down in his current form.
Here is the conundrum that faces prognosticators. Both fighters are great on the ground and may want cancel one another out by going for a pure pugilist endeavor.
We might see a great deal more standing and throwing punches than we are used to in their respective fights. Such a thing would be a treat and exciting for even the most fair weather of MMA fans.
With the talents of both fighters being shared evenly, this bout has the looks of something that will go the distance with the judges having to weigh what will be a bloody and tightly fought match.
This is the best kind of bout, one that will cause fans to argue for months over who truly won. I have Cerrone by a nose, but it will take one of his best efforts to get past one of the best in Diaz.
